Recreating one of my 2020 drawings

Tenia muchas ganas de recrear uno de mis dibujos antiguos y elegí uno que en su momento me gusto bastante, sin embargo, cuando lo abrí y detalle bien me di cuenta de muchas cosas que no se ven precisamente bien, la piel tiene detalles muy poco realistas, al igual que los ojos, cabello e incluso las rosas, intente mejorarlo haciendo un nuevo dibujo desde cero, con una nueva pose pero manteniendo los accesorios y vestuario, quise realizarlo con tonos un poco mas opacos para darle un mejor acabado y siento que quedo muchísimo mejor, a pesar de que no soy experta sé que he mejorado bastante en estos últimos 5 años, espero que les guste.

I really wanted to recreate one of my old drawings and I chose one that at the time I liked a lot, however, when I opened it and detailed it well I noticed many things that don't look exactly good, the skin has very unrealistic details, as well as the eyes, hair and even the roses, I tried to improve it making a new drawing from scratch, with a new pose but keeping the accessories and costumes, I wanted to make it with a little more opaque tones to give it a better finish and I feel that it is much better, although I am not an expert I know that I have improved a lot in these last 5 years, I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Realicé el boceto con una nueva pose, agregando los detalles que veía siguiendo mi dibujo anterior, elegí la paleta de colores guiándome un poco por la original, pero con tonos un poco mas opacos y oscuros, en una nueva capa añadió más tonos dándole forma por completo a toda la piel y luego comencé a mezclar los colores dejando una piel lisa pero con algo de textura, esta vez pinte los ojos con azules muy claros y mas adelante le di más iluminación haciéndolos ver muchos más realistas, antes solía colocar el blanco directamente y no respetaba las sombras lo cual hacia ver los ojos realmente terribles.

I made the sketch with a new pose, adding the details that I saw following my previous drawing, I chose the color palette following a little bit the original one, but with more opaque and dark tones, in a new layer I added more tones giving a complete shape to the whole skin and then I started to mix the colors leaving a smooth skin but with some texture, this time I painted the eyes with very light blues and later on I gave more lighting making them look much more realistic, before I used to put the white directly and didn't respect the shadows which made the eyes look really terrible.

Con solo pintar la piel se puede notar una diferencia enorme entre ambos dibujos, ya que en esta oportunidad la piel se ve mucho más realista, luego empecé a oscurecer un poco más los parpados simulando un maquillaje negro, detalle los labios e igualmente los pinte de negro y tambien dibuje las lágrimas, pinte el cabello de negro y le di un poco de volumen con tonos azules grisáceos para luego ocuparme de la ropa la cual pinte con morado oscuro y morado claro, no podía faltar la luna en la frente asi que tambien la pinté, dibuje la silueta de las rosas con un azul oscuro y con azules claros hice los pétalos, tambien recree el mismo fondo pero con un ligero cambio, como siempre, añadí luces en zonas que quería resaltar y realice un ajuste de color muy tenue.

Just by painting the skin you can notice a huge difference between both drawings, because this time the skin looks much more realistic, then I started to darken a little more the eyelids simulating a black makeup, detail the lips and also paint them black and also draw the tears, I painted the hair black and gave it a little volume with grayish blue tones and then I took care of the clothes which I painted with dark purple and light purple, I could not miss the moon on the forehead so I also painted it, I drew the silhouette of the roses with a dark blue and with light blue I made the petals, I also recreated the same background but with a slight change, as always, I added lights in areas that I wanted to highlight and made a very faint color adjustment.

Buy man, even the old creation is so pretty, and the improvement to this 2025 version is just so amazing. It's cool how much you grow, when it comes to your skills. I like both version either way. Your art style is really beautiful and cool!

Such a huge improvement!! It's amazing how far you've come. Practicing regularly is so worth it.

Also that process of adding rough colors to blend out later... that is something I can't/don't do because I get so afraid of not mixing it properly or smudging too much that it looks messy haha. It's so satisfying to see you blended them out so well. :D

before I was also afraid of adding so many colors and mixing them and that's why sometimes the result was not too good, but little by little I got used to it, you have to lose the fear in the same way if something goes wrong you can start again, a lot of patience and effort and I assure you that it will come out very well! 🥰

True and even most of the times, random colors you wouldn't have thought of fitting will give extra dimension to the work. :D
