Peter Eva Pizza: Huskisson, AUSTRALIA

Whilst on holiday in Jervis Bay, we had a birthday dinner for one of the girls. Of course, the birthday person always gets to choose the place where we will go out to for dinner... and for this girl, it is ALMOST always going to be Italian!

Thankfully, there was a really good looking Italian place (Peter Eva Pizza) in the nearby town of Huskisson. And so, we made sure to book a table so that we wouldn't get shunted out by the huge summer holiday crowd!

The Space

So, it was really quite lucky that we did book a table... the inside seating was completely packed, and there were overflow tables in the mall area outside the restaurant! A popular place is always a great sign... so, we were quite hopeful that this Italian place was going to be pretty decent!

The Menu

Peter and Eva are immigrants from Italy who have made their home in this coastal town... and their restaurant is a huge hit with both locals and tourists. Everything on the menu is pretty traditional Italian fare... with some occasional small concessions for Australian tastes.

... but nothing here would seem out of place in Italy!

The Food

The pizza was first to arrive... and wow, it was stunningly good! Light and soft base, and not overly cheesy. Perfect... you don't want to feel heavy after eating a good pizza!

Meanwhile, my girls ordered their first mocktails! An orange citrus one for my younger one... lovely, tangy and sweet!

... and minty lemon one for my older girl! Crazily refreshing for a warm summer evening!

My oldest girl is obsessed about gnocchi.... and if it appears on the menu, it will be ordered! These were really good ones, soft but firm... with a good simple tomato based sauce on top.

... and for me, seeing as we were at the beach, a seafood linguini. I mean, that is really what you should do when you are this close to the ocean! And this was great, fresh seafood in a tasty sauce... even though I lost it most of the shellfish and prawns to the rest of the family!

Finally, the desserts! A berry Pannacotta... again, not too heavy... and the sauce was just nicely tart. I used to have this with just a little dollop of really good honey when I was in Europe... but berries work just as well!

The little one just wanted some ice-cream... which ended up being significantly more than "some".

And my oldest has really started to get into Tiramisu for desserts. And this was a great one... again, not too heavy on the cream and nice and light in texture. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of custard in there...

The Experience

Well, tourist towns have plenty of places that are overpriced and low quality... but Peter Eva Pizza was great find. Amazingly good Italian food... and perfect take away pizza if you were so inclined.

Definitely a must book place.... especially in the summer tourist months, as it packs out pretty quickly!
