I was pretty jealous when I saw @bozz get a Blackstone grill. So when my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I knew exactly what I wanted. She surprise me earlier this week with a new new grill, which I was excited to put together and use last night.
I done a fair amount of research on seasoning the grill and recipes that would be fun to try. So after about an hour of seasoning, which included heating the grill up and put in fat on the grill to let it burn off, I was ready to try my first meal.
We opted to try hibachi which seemed like a risky endeavor, but it was way easier than I thought. Honestly, it was just a bunch of preparation, cutting vegetables, chicken, and preparing rice. The cooking on the Blackstone could not have been easier.
After throwing down some more oil, I threw everything on the grill and started flipping away. I felt like an actual hibachi chef, and my wife was laughing at me, cause I was flipping stuff around, trying to do tricks. When you cook everything on one single top all the flavors melt together.
My wife looked up how to make all the cool dipping sauces. We broke out the chopsticks, and I will say this was one of the best hibachi I’ve ever had. We were excited cause we made enough leftovers today. Overall, I was very impressed with how easy it is to cook on the Blackstone. It takes a lot of care to not let them Ross so I’m trying my best to keep them clean and oiled. My wife was nice enough to get me all the accessories and covers so I didn’t have to worry about any utensils or cleaning apparatus which was very nice. I even ended up getting a propane refill kit since this one uses 1 pound propane tanks Which means I can refill it off my bigger propane tank to cut that on cost. in this economy, we’ve decided to actively try to cook more at home even though we were already cooking quite a bit. Blackstones are an investment, but after my first cook, I would say it’s definitely worth it. I’m pretty pumped too because this Blackstone is one that can be taken on camping trips. It was built for mobility and ease of use. I’d love to know if other people have Blackstones and what their experiences have been.
