Hello World.
Found this group searching the #garden tag.
My first post on the Hive Blockchain was about Quinoa. I couldn't resist taking another photograph of the seedlings, which are beautiful and full of nutrients. This is my first time growing any sort of grains and I'm excited to see the results. My first post is here - - >
https://peakd.com/garden/@ferngully/quinoa-sprouts where I share details about Quinoa.
Next to the Quinoa is the clone garden, which I am creating from store bought produce. Below is a flowering Napa Cabbage plant, which is similar to Bok Choy. It's a very tasty Cabbage, a tall green cabbage that is watery, but also packed full of flavor, great for fried dishes or soups. This is my first time growing this particular vegetable. I carefully cut the outer layers and soaked the cabbage in water before planting it into the backyard garden where I have all the clones.
Below is the same type of cabbage soaking in water indoors before it gets planted: Along with some celery plants and a lettuce clone. These plants are going outside soon. It will be fun to see how many clones i can make from kitchen scraps before the heat picks up and I can't plant them anymore. I am also growing some carrot clones, radishes and a beet plant. Stay tuned to see how big the clone garden will become! Almost any vegetable can be cloned so it will be very diverse.
Next, let's take a look at my seed collection. This is everything that I haven't planted yet. I have some 3 year old carrot seeds that I got for a discount. I have tobacco seeds, acorn squash, zucchini, mini pumpkins, kiwis, watermelons and some Japanese white dandelions. I am most excited for the 3 strains of ornamental corns, which I plan to breed into a new strain. Ornamental, or "Indian" corn is too thick to eat normally, but makes great popcorn or flour.
I also have flower seeds which I got for free from an order. I've never grown flower seeds because they tend to drive my allergies crazy, but I figured why not, it should attract lots of bees. There are a few other plants I am growing, like a section of spearmint, oregano and a strawberry plant. There are also a few asparagus plants that are going to seed. Finally, I will show the retaining wall on the outside of my garden where I am growing onions, potatoes and garlic.
