Hello hive foodie lovers. This is my first post here and I would be glad to share you something I made for our meals yesterday. Fish is actually expensive in my island and as a mom I cannot go out so much to go to the wet market so I rely on motorcycle vendors. Yesterday there are lots of fishes coming around but I chose to buy the cheapest one.
I bought flying fish last week and it was so tiny like they are still babies. But yesterday it was bigger like it is mommy size hahaha. This is half kilo and it costs 70 pesos.
The first thing I want to make is the kinilaw. Kinilaw is when you eat it raw but with vinegar and spices. First I clean the fish and remove the necessary parts like the fins, gills, it's wings, scales and the internal organs.
When I opened the fish I found caviars of it. So I confirmed it was a mommy fish and it's already laying eggs.
Then I slice it in half to get the bone from the inside without destroying the meat of the fish. After cleaning it I wash it so many times then I cut it into smaller pieces so it is easy to chew.
Then these are the following spices I need. More onions and ginger slice in so fine bits. Add vinegar, salt and msg. Then mix the fish to the mixture. Mix it well.
I squeeze some cut lemons to add the citrus flavor and some cucumber slices to balance the sourness. Then I put the whole fish caviar on top to add beauty for pictorial. Then this is the finish product. It looks tasty and the fish caviar is appetizing.
Then set aside for 5-10 minutes in order to soak it in the vinegar and produce a cooking effect.
While setting it aside I then salted the left fish for trying. Then fried it immediately after the cooking oil boils.
So these are our meals yesterday lunch time and I really like the kinilaw eating the spices together. I also splint chilis and it was so spicy.
Kids enjoyed the fried fish too with the soy sauce. They like fried so much and they always had it every week because it's the easiest way to cook.
I am having fun on cooking and loves exploring in the kitchen. Moreover I am thinking of having turon fish next week. I love experimenting recipes. This is what I'm doing when I was a child. No one ever teach me how to cook but out of my curiosity I cook, practice and when I was a mother like it is very difficult if I always buy at the restaurant so I watch videos from other platforms to gather procedures and ingredients.
Actually I have a lot of cooking recipe because I'm the one who cooks everyday and I'll be sharing more in the future. I hope you like my blog. Thank you so much for reading up until here.
If you have some fish recipes, I would like to know just comment there and I love reading it.
Thank you ❤
