A Day of Coffee, Caramel, & Chaos

The Line Just Gets Even More Blurry

Before I talk about my failure…. Let’s talk about something I recently found out as well….

When AI first came around for everyone, one of the things that people did was generate images through it. Soon, AI became more than just a text generator but also an image generator. There are many great debates out there in all kinds of fields, including photography which basically goes into this line Will Artificial Intelligence Revolutionize or Ruin Photography?

In an ever changing landscape where AI is widely more accepted not just by people but also government and corporations, it doesn’t seem like there is an escape to it, at least when you’re trying to appeal to the large mass.

In case you’re not following, ChatGPT rolled out a few more intriguing features that its image creation can be used as a photo editor.

Conventionally, photographers use Adobe Photoshop or Adobe lightroom to edit their pictures. They have pretty extensive features and can fine tune our picture to be something that’s more pleasing to the eye. It takes quite a bit of work to finally produce a great picture that’s aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Then, when I was randomly browsing instagram, I saw this recent news. It could totally alter the way we edit photos and just as you see on the thumbnail, my RAW picture that originally looks like these turned into the beautiful thumbnail above.

For the entire week, almost daily I am tinkering with a coffee book recipe that I got as a gift a while ago.

20250427_175724.jpg

I noticed that though I have more time to do all that, I realized I started getting a little too obsessed with it. When I start getting a little too obsessed, I tend to rush things and abandon other aspects in my life.

DSC05809.JPG

Honestly, I had fun.

I had fun failing.

It reminds me once again that it’s OK to fail and it’s OK to start over. As I am taking more and more difficult challenges, I start finding more difficult recipes to do. As a result, I failed more than I can think of this week and instead of usually feeling bad about it, I was happy.

The recipe that I was supposed to make was Crème caramel, the classic french desserts that anyone into cooking and baking should definitely master. It’s a delicate balance of patience and technique that will ease up our way to the next level.

And another thing I was trying to make was this Coffee Cookie Holder. It is supposed to be an edible cookie cup holder filled with rich and creamy coffee. But, alas, I failed during the process of making the dough and even during the process of shaping them as apparently I need a proper papercup and aluminum foil to hold them close.

Somehow, through both failings, they came out as this cookie coffee creme caramel dessert with hardened caramel as the icing on the cookie.

Fun fact, the creme caramel was made with infused milk and coffee. It was supposed to be Coffee Caramel but well… they are now turning into that dessert you see above.

This is how it looks like as a milk cup holder, not too bad but won’t hold that much liquid. Just a fun pie dessert that could be well done with frosting on top.

Today was the day of reflection that through my failing, I learned something new and a reminder that I got a little too obsessed. It’s time for me to rest it out a little and start over in a week or two again. There are things that I should be focusing on more these days than having fun with my failing.

My mom and I went outside as well and it was such a nice break from our normal life cooped up inside our home. Time passes by and soon it’ll be 100 days and I hope we can life our life normally again and a lot freely.

Have you had a great day today? If you’re not going outside, it’s time to, see loved ones, touch some grass and have fun.

Also, let me know your thoughts on AI as photo editor rather than image generator.

That's a seriously spooky coincidence! I made a crème caramel last week and the lady fingers for the tiramasu arrived from Shopee just 15 minutes before I read this post! Your recipe book is magic!

You can't cook without 'failures'. I also made a Toad in the Hole yesterday, which had overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle simply because I'd had the oven on slightly too high, but next time, I won't make the same mistake and it will be better. The moral is always that mistakes are a necessity to learning and improving. I'm saving the crème caramel and tiramasu when it's made later, today for future posts, but the Toad-in-the Hole.....

I hope you and your mum have a great week. Sometimes breathing in some fresh air and looking up at the sky is all it takes to get back on an even keel :-)

Whoaaa, I am going to try that Toad in the Hole but it looks something pretty doable. I promised myself not to bake anything this week 🤣 cause I've been doing too much of it for these past few days.

I've been wanting to make sausage rolls but that Toad in the hole seems a lot more reasonable to do 😄So, I'll let you know if I make it. We don't have real good sausages but there are a few candidates for it.

I also don't have the tin that was supposed to make the creme caramel that seems to be very necessary to pull creme caramel.

The Yorkshire pudding batter is very simple and is exactly the same as a pancake batter. The trick is getting the rise!
I got 2 out of 4 to stay moulded! Its very faffy using water baths and getting the timing and temp. Just bright!

Wow! This is a very nice work, I. Will love to eat too

🤣 It's edible and caffeinated but I consider myself a failure. I was supposed to do a coffee cup holder but again, failing means another opportunity to turn things around, right?

Yes you can still try again, but you really tried alot, I really appreciate it Alot 🙏 👌

The original recipes do seem a bit complex, so maybe it would take anyone a couple of tries to master it. What is fascinating is how you combined two of your supposed failures into a winning brand-new dessert!

The original recipe looks like straight out of science experiment. Also, I don't have some of the tools that were necessary, so there's that too. But yeah, I am honestly surprised how it turned out 🤣

Once again, AI is scaring me a little. I actually think it's very useful because I think more normal people will have access to this type of technology, but I'm worried about those who work in this field, like illustrators, photographers, and editors. Everything is advancing so fast, and everything looks so real and professional, it's incredible.

And the dessert, well, as long as it's edible, it does its job. At least you tried; there'll be time to make it better next time.

Thanks for posting on Daily Blog. Have a nice day ❤️.

It's scary definitely and I wonder where we will go in the next decade. It's almost like the world is shifting just like how it was back when computer first came into the market. AI is that way too.

Omg yes!! I’ve had those days too where I'm just totally absorbed in something creative and forget to breathe. It’s such a cozy, chaotic feeling. Also, lowkey obsessed with your dessert pictures, even if they didn’t turn out 'perfect' — they still look like a sweet win to me 😍

Indeed, trying to get back to it has been something I am trying to do as well. I need to focus on something else 😂

This is so wonderful and amazing, look at how captivating it looks. I would love to taste it also.

hehehe thank you! It's still edible.

Excellent work because it is a contrast and at the same time an excellent balance between the original content and what the AI can create.

😁hahahahaha yeah, I've been wondering if one day the internet is just going to be filled with AI and we might lost the human touch. It's sad to see though

Wow, you created another wonderful work out from what you really wanted to make. It's a beautiful disaster I believe. You created it with art and love. Greetings!

hahahaha it's probably is and they're still delicious as it's made of cookie dough. See you around and have a great day😊

oh how I love your post @macchiata 😍💗 it's genuine, insightful and... delicious 😋 yumyum.. you know, sometimes failing leads to some unexpected creations.. tasty creations 😁.. your cookie coffee creme caramel dessert sounds like a happy and tasty accident 🤣.. well, as for the photo editing AI yeah! it's crazy.. though I am not really a fan of it I can see how it will make work quicker and more convenient..

It's definitely insane how AI can transform the picture to be something like that. I mean, for those who can't work with Canva or stuff like that, editing with AI can work really well.

Awesome! This is very creative and so wow to drink and eat slowly the cookie holder. I would love to enjoy this kind o creativity and passion for baking and wating this cookies. You are superb my dear friend.
