I have a cousin who prefers junk food only. His lifestyle when it comes to food is quite baffling, and I kept wondering why some people will love junk more than healthy food even when it's obvious that junk doesn't contain the needed nutrients the body system needs to function efficiently.
At the sight of this week's prompt, the thought of my cousin's eating lifestyle clouded my mind, and I even had to call him to see if he had changed or was still team junk food, hahaha 😂. Life is a choice, and that's why, even when it's about food, people freely make their favorite choices, and it becomes their lifestyle.
Personally, I am not 100% on the healthy team' side, nor am I on the junk team side. I am just a middle lady who eats both kinds of food, but eating junk food for me is with caution because it's obviously not healthy for frequent consumption, but then, it's just difficult to avoid it completely. The worst part is getting addicted to junk due to its sweetness; it will completely ruin my health. I was there before, especially during my days as a spinster. I hated the natural food except for rice, and living with Grandma, you will never see junk around her home; it was all natural, not even a refrigerator at home or a freezer for preservation.
We cooked food on a daily basis, pure natural food from the farm, which should always be very healthy, but yet, I didn't find it appetizing. As much as she tried everything to convince me to eat healthy with her, I just didn't like those foods. I preferred Junks and could starve myself if I didn't have any means of satisfying my cravings back then. I was very slim those days because the junk I love, I don't get in quantity and still lacking nutrients iny body and falling sick more often.
However, I kept growing into adulthood, getting more knowledge about healthy meals, and I started embracing it, seeking balance instead. I became intentional with eating healthy when I finally became a mom. I wanted my kids to get used to healthy food more, and how do I do that easily? By being the role model. So since motherhood, my eating lifestyle has been influenced. Junks are only on a rare occasion.

As much as my kids love noodles and other junks, we only have it once a week. There are also days we take fruits and nuts at home, and then, more often, we consume healthy meals.
I think it's all about self-discipline, especially when you understand that eating right influences your well-being.
There are lots of processed foods that we can't do without; they also belong to the categories of junk, and yet, we consume them because going natural isn't always easy, especially for those not living in rural areas where natural food is very handy. The best balanced approach for me is consuming them in moderation because too much junk is worse than too many healthy meals.
What type of food do you prefer? Are you on the 'healthy team,' or do you prefer junk food? Or do you simply maintain a good balance between the two?
