Its mango season Now. Green Raw mangoes are seen everwhere now in the market. Today I decided to make sweet and tangy green mango curry. I.e Aam ki lunji or Kairi ki Lunji. Its a north indian dish. It tastes amazing with paranthas.
In train journey we make this curry because it will not easily spoil for 3 days without refrigerator. So its helpul in journey if you are carrying homemade food for 2 days.
This dish we cannot get in restaurants because Green mangoes come in summer seasons and its not very popular curry among people like cottage cheese( Paneer) and rich curry like Rajma, chole etc. Its a common curry among Rajasthani peoples who easily make it in Home in summers.
Now lets see how to make this recipe ....
Ingredients
Green mango-2
Oil-2tbspn
Nigella seeds-½tspn
Asofedita-½tspn
Turmeric powder-½tspn
Redchili powder-1tspn
Salt-to the taste
Jaggery-½cup (depends on your taste)
Fennel powder-½tspn
Water-½cup
Method
Take green raw mangoes. Wash it properly.
Peel it properly.
Now chop the mangoes and discard the seed.
Further boil the mangoes for 5 mins.
Now heat oil in a kadhai.
Add nigella seeds.
Then add boiled raw mangoes.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder,
Add salt.
Mix it up properly.
Further add water.
Then add Jaggery powder and fennel powder. Give a boil for 10 mins in low flame.
Off the flame.
Add kasuri Meethi (that is dried fenugreek leaves). Transfer the curry in a bowl and serve it with Plain Rice / Chapati or Paranthas.
