Weekend trips
A month ago was the last time we visited Granada. In fact it was a super last minute and not properly planned visit that day as we didn't want to be here and be out and about instead. Whatever we were planning on doing didn't happen and so we just headed to Granada.
While in the car, I informed our friends that we were on our way and said if you're home and up for company let us know. If not, no worries as we didn't properly plan things today.
I had one goal though and that was to check out the second hand store there because every time we go there I find something convenient for good prices and we always go there when their prices are at the lowest rate, they work in biweekly cycles so prices start high and go down before they renew stock.
We picked a rainy day
Although normally the weather is dry, rain doesn't happen that often, this day we were told by our friend that it wasn't the best day to meet at a terrace because it was going to rain in 30 minutes. Oops. Didn't check the forecast that morning so that was a bummer.
We drove to the store first and said we'd let them know once we're done that we could meet somewhere. I was happy that we went there because both me and the little one found a pyama that we're both happy with. No clothes that day sadly but hey, can't get lucky every time, right?
Beause of the rain our friend proposed to meet in the big shopping mall and although we both hate that mall quite a bit when we lived there and didn't have transportation, we decided to go ahead and meet there because it was at least going to be dry and free parking, lol. City centers can be such a nightmare to drive around for parking, especially in the rain.
The reason we hate that mall is because it's a sensitive person's nightmare, I get super overstimulated by all the flickering lights and huge crowds that when we leave this mall I have to unwind for several hours. Usually a headache is added as well. But we figured we will just pick somewhere to grab a bite and hope for the best.
Brilliant idea!
After having to walk through almost the whole length of the mall (a nightmare for me when in pain) to find a toilet, we walked towards the restaurant area and it was exactly as I remembered. Packed with people on a Saturday, so it seems no free seats even at the biggest fast food chains, oh boy, what did we get ourselves into, lol.
Thankfully our friend arrived from the other side and first passed a steakhouse where they at least had free tables outside where we could sit dry, worst case. But he being a bit cheeky, he just walked in and asked for a table, so after a few minutes waiting we were seated. Gosh, what a pleasure to have a decent seat and be away from the noise and lights in the rest of this mall. I instantly felt my body relaxing, and the food surely looked good!
Lovely steak and sides
Although I didn't capture the side dishes (you can see the fries in the picture though lol), they were all quite nice and suprisingly good. We decided not to order full dishes but share a plate with stake, it included a huge potato with cream and some bread as well.
I added fries because I need fries, and some grilled vegetables on the side. Our daughter ordered some chicken.
In the end, it was a great place to meet but the best thing was that we met his new girlfriend and were in good company. It will take us some practicing to communicate in Spanish fully but thankfully we have a translator at hand when needed, maybe even two if our daughter cooperates!
Now for the upcoming weekend, we may end up there again, but we will make sure to plan ahead, the weather seems nice over here, maybe it's the same in Granada.. We would love to check out the city center a bit again because it's been forever since we walked there..
Have a good Friday and weekend ahead!
