Never out of mind..
Those that have been following my posts for some years know this is a returning ritual that we eat cake on the birthdays of my two oldest kids who sadly aren't living with me. Although the first years without them were the absolute hardest to get through (read: I'd cry for days), things got a little easier after so long and even though they're out of sight this long, they will never be out of my mind, ever.
Fifteen already!
My oldest daughter turned 15 this month and it's hard to believe that it's been ten years already since I last saw her. I don't want to dwell on the past and the hard phase in our lives that resulted in this separation, instead I want to focus on the fact that she's getting close to adulthood now and with that our chances of being reunited will become bigger than ever.
I feel hopeful knowing that at some point she'll be old enough to make her own decisions and we meet again. The last updates I got from her were through my mother's friend so I haven't heard anything recently as my mother passed and the connection to information has been broken, sadly. But the last thing I heard was that she did well at school and studies a lot so I'm hoping that she'll make smarter choices than her parents in her rebel teen years, haha.
Although memories are old and from her childhood, I can still remmeber things vividly and also remember how smart she was for such a young girl. If she plays her card rights, she'll surely get where she wants to end up in life. Once we're reunited I'm going to do everything within my power to help her where needed.
Cake!
My little girl was already looking forward to eating cake the whole week in advance.. I decided not to make one myself but go for cake in a little shop nearby after school finished that day. Of course everyone could pick which cake they wanted.
Boyfriend's choice: cheese cake
This one was different than the one he had the other time we ate cake here, the other one was better he said.
Daughter's choice: Kinder bueno cake
He was lucky to get a bite from daughter's slice, but not too much! Thankfully for him, I couldn't finish the cake I picked:
My choice: Ferero rocher chocolate cake
It was very heavy and I think I only ate 2/3 and moved the rest to my boyfriend (after daughter tested it too haha). Cake can be good but I don't like it when it's heavy on the stomach so just a part of it was enough for me.
Birthday rounds
My oldest is always the kickstart of three birthdays close to each other, I'm next and my youngest is up next month. So my youngest will be pleased to have a few more cake opportunities in the upcoming month.
Hopefully, my big 15 year old had a great day and made nice memories.. Happy birthday from all of us <3
