#Beerologist may be a made up title but I sure lean into it with my enjoyment of craft beers and weekly blog. If you are the same, then #beersaturday by our friend @detlev may be the place for you! So glad to have found a home with beer drinkers across the world on my favourite blockchain.
For week 404, I am primarily celebrating 8 years on hive for our leader and my old friend @detlev with pints, shorties, international beers and a wonderful session NEIPA.

The Pint O the Week is usually a nice draft, enjoyed out on the town in a social setting, enjoying out community with some suds. This time, our reason for enjoying these pints might be a little obvious. Golf beers are usually good no matter what brand they are with the exception of a few painfully boring light ales when they are not fresh. These, on the other hand are a couple acceptable IPAs guarding a fresh boring ale. Perfect indoor golf beers that make us thirst for outdoor golf in the summer!

Shorty of the Week
You may remember this pint is from last week's episode where I was visiting Jobsite Brewing for a little Triple P attack (popcorn, pizza and pints.)
It is Quick Set New England IPA with Kveik yeast they use for a neat variation on the tropical and juicy version of their regular IPA. I almost forgot it was in the fridge until I changed out a keg and it was a bold and yummy little thing.

International Beer Day!

A local bar was advertising April 7th as National Beer Day. Good enough reason to celebrate in Canada but why not share it with the world? I know how we can promote it from national to international.
You may recognize our stoic and sober head brewer from past editions of beersaturday. Well, besides being an internationally designated Cicerone, he is also visiting breweries abroad!

So, as we are battling cold spring temperatures, below freezing at night and even lingering snow squalls, he is away in Madrid, Spain for some vacation. Sending us pictures of the breweries he has visited before soccer fames/football matches.

This one was described as having less aesthetic appeal than the last one but even better beer. So, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BEER DAY to you all vicariously through our travelling brewer.

Beer at Home
Back at home, we are in a 3-week brewing hiatus but we kicked it into overtime the week before his trip. 9 kegs of Amber, IPA and Cream Ale should get us through 3 weeks even with 1/3 of our drinking power gone. We also brewed 180 liters of the next round of those beers so that we have something to keg when he returns. Now, we have the challenge of freeing up 9 kegs to get them all out of the fermenters when he gets back. The struggle is real.
Weighing in at a relatively light 5.6 ABV (we aim for 6.3%,) I was not sure how this batch of IPA would compare to the delicious, serious and tropically hazy batch before. Turns out, this is a delightful beer even with less alcohol but a wonderful balance between dry and sweet with a little haze that I have come to love with our NEIPA. Still trying to come up with a name for this batch but the balance of yin/yang might be a good theme.

#BEERSaturday!

Am I the only one who tries to stay active enough that beer won't ruin my abs? It can be done!
Join me, @detlev , and these other beerologists because there is always room for more beer bloggers at this week's Beer Saturday gathering... https://hive.blog/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-405 405 weeks 7.78 years and @detlev is celebrating 8 years on hive!!
