Spontaneity feels like it is the very spice of life. That feeling of doing something just off the cuff. Sometimes when you don't really know what to do, it calls for that random and unplanned action..let's call that life.
This past Thursday we went out for a night on the town. We went out and ate giant burritos from dinner and then took the family to see Frozen 2! Not to mention a little snacks while watching the movie. It didn't take long for me to feel like something was off. My guts were bloated and I felt terrible. Not in a sick type of way, but as in my system wasn't behaving quite right kind of way.
I woke up Friday morning and I was still feeling this way. I was still feeling uncomfortable, and I felt "full". You know what I mean, that feeling of not wanting to eat food. So I decided I was going to fast!
I started the day with a large glass of warm/hot water with a good amount of Himalayan Pink salt. It took about an hour, but then the dam burst. It was like a nice cleanse mixed with my fast, I felt like I had hit the lottery.
The rest of the day Friday and most of Saturday I just drank water and lemon water. The lemon helps to change the PH of the body, and it adds vitamins. It was the most amazing things though, whenever I had warm/hot water even without the salt it would trigger my bowels to keep going.
When I woke up Saturday morning Stacie D (@freedomtowrite) was blown away by the amount of swelling I had lost. She said that my body was looking like it was supposed to, and that everything seemed to be down.
The goal of fasting wasn't to just lose water weight. I also didn't have any spiritual or mental goals I was looking to hit. It was simple...I wanted to fast until I felt better.
This lasted 43 hours and ended Saturday at 3 p.m. I broke my fast with soy yogurt and two bananas. I wanted to start off eating with a bang. I want to start looking after my guts more, and probiotics are the way! We have some sauerkraut fermenting right now, and when that is ready it will be game on!
Last night's dinner was absolutely perfect. It was boiled sweet potato, steamed vegetables, quinoa and sushi rice. Not much on the seasoning, but it was just right.
I am starting my day today feeling like a million bucks! I seemed to have righted whatever was wrong, and giving myself a real boost in my nutrients. I already intermittent fast, have been since 2016. I eat once at 10 am and once at 6 pm, and then try to leave my stomach empty in between.
If you are able to fast in any manner I highly recommend it. If you are skeptical, at least look into it. It is a game changer however you slice it.
I hope you are all enjoying my adventure as much as I am! Be well
