Since I donât have classes on Fridays and only had a Zoom meeting for NSTP on Saturday, I took the chance to go home to Medellin for the long weekend. Thereâs just something about being back in my hometownâthe slower pace, the familiar streets, and, of course, the food. I arrived last Thursday, and it felt like a reset from the usual college chaos.
Tonight, my family and I decided to check out the newly opened Worthy Spot by Cafetana, located in Kawit Mercado, near San Roque. Itâs been getting a lot of buzz around town, and for good reason. For a newly opened food spot, it already has the best interior among all the ones here in Kawit. The place is modern yet cozy, with warm lights and an aesthetic setup that makes you want to take a bunch of pictures before even ordering. They have a big mirror (perfect for selfies, of course) and a stylish seating area with LED lights, which my family and I definitely took advantage of for some fun photos.
A Feast of Comfort Food
The menu is pretty stacked, offering a variety of drinks and snacks. Some of the highlights include:
â
Milk tea
â
Cream cheese drinks
â
Lemon freeze
â
Smoothies
â
Takoyaki
â
Fries
â
Burgers
â
Ice cream
When we got there around 7 PM, the place was already lively with groups of friends and families enjoying their meals. The ambiance was inviting, with soft music playing in the background and the perfect lightingânot too dim, not too harsh. They also have plenty of tables and chairs, so it never felt cramped.
We ordered quite a spread because, well, why not?
𼤠Milk tea & cream cheese drinks â These were a hit. My cream cheese drink was absolutely worth the priceâit had the perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, not too overwhelming but definitely indulgent.
đ Chicken loaded fries â Now, they werenât lying when they said loaded. These fries were drowning in cheese and cream, which is either a dream or a bit much, depending on how much of a cheese person you are. If you love rich, creamy flavors, youâll enjoy this. But if youâre someone who prefers lighter snacks, you might want to share this one.
đ Burgers â Their burgers come packed with fresh veggies like cucumber and onions, layered with a flavorful sauce that ties everything together. Itâs the kind of burger that feels homemade in the best wayâjuicy, fresh, and satisfying.
đŚ Ice cream â A sweet way to end the meal. I went for a classic flavor, and it was the perfect little treat after all the heavy food.
Aside from the food, one of the best things about tonight was running into old high school friends I hadnât talked to in a while. Itâs funny how life worksâsometimes you donât realize how much youâve missed certain people until you see them again. We caught up on everything from college struggles to hometown gossip, laughing over memories we thought we had forgotten. It felt good to reconnect.
Being home, even just for a short while, always reminds me of the simple joysâgood food, family time, and familiar faces. Worthy Spot by Cafetana is definitely a place Iâd recommend to anyone visiting Medellin. Itâs cozy, the food is great, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay and just enjoy the moment.
If you ever find yourself in Kawit Mercado, make sure to check it out. And if youâve already been, let me know what your favorite thing on the menu was!
Until next time, Hivers! đ¤â¨
