Hello everyone in this food community!
A pleasant day hivers!
This is KhaY, and I'm excited to be posting here for the first time. It's Sunday and I finally have some time to cook, so I've decided to make a classic Filipino dish called Lumpiang Shanghai. I can't wait to share the process and the end result with all of you!
What is Lumpiang Shanghai?
First and foremost let's first know what Lumpiang Shanghai is.
Let's talk about Lumpiang Shanghai. It's the most basic type of lumpia (fried spring rolls) in Filipino cuisine. While it originated in Fujian, China, the Lumpiang Shanghai served in the Philippines today has its unique recipe. Unlike other types of Filipino lumpia, like Turon (Banana Lumpia), Lumpiang Shanghai is smaller in size and has a thinner dough. The traditional filling usually includes ground meat (pork or beef), and sometimes even shrimp and beaten eggs.
My Kind of making a simple Lumpiang Shanghai recipe!
I didn't have any potatoes, so I substituted chayote along with carrots and thinly sliced pork for my Lumpiang Shanghai.

✓After slicing all the ingredients, start by heating some oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add the onions and garlic and sauté them until they are translucent and fragrant.
✓Next, add the pork to the pan and cook it for about 3 minutes or until it is fully cooked. Then, add the carrots and chayote and continue to cook until they are tender and cooked through.

✓Wrap the Lumpia filling in a prepared wrapper by spooning the desired amount of cooked ingredients onto it. Roll the wrapper thoroughly to ensure it is securely sealed.

✓Once all the lumpia are wrapped, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the wrapped lumpia in the pan and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This should take around 3-4 minutes per side. Remember to turn the lumpia occasionally for even cooking.
