We were hungry and it was my turn to buy dinner. We were balls deep in some hacking at the kitchen table and the party voted to have food delivered. This was an opportunity for me to use @pixbee again, which is an experimental tool developed to convert hbd or HIVE to Brazilian REAL.
you open hive keychain and go to the pixbee dashboard, then you type in the recipient's Pix address. Then you type in the amount of HBD you want to spend, and it shows you how much $R that is.
Then you type in your hive account and it essentially buys HBD from you and pays the Pix address the amount in R$.
you can only spend as much money as pixbee has in its reserves which usually isnt much.
anyway, heres the food we bought with HBD!
it was my first time trying feijuada and i put way to much farofa on it.
The second time we used it, the homie payed for the food and i just payed him back in HBD, using Pixbee so he replenished the $R in his bank
This time we got burgers
They were good.
Since i have never spent or even sold any of the hive that i have earned through blogging here, it was a fun experience to do.
it's cool we have devs experimenting with stuff like this, and as of now you can only do this in brazil because thats where they guy who developed it lives.
You can also buy hive or HBD with pixbee using $R
While this isn't spending Hive directly by onboarding a merchant to accept it, its a start. And its fun.
