The Week That Was… part 4

It’s 1:37am on Wednesday morning as I begin to type this.

Thursday will be two weeks without hearing from a plumber I requested from Housing Trust maintenance, but I have other priorities at the moment.

Later today I have a shift at the Festival Theatre, selling tickets. My guess is that it will still be for the Tina Turner biographical tribute that is running until the end of the month.

My shift at for the football on Thursday has been set to “standby” but I can’t want for them to cuange their minds so I have applied to work for the Adelaide Oval for both Thursday and Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday are the weekend of Oz ComicCon. I mentioned it in the previous post and I have decided to go and meet with Pat Tallman. My friend wants to get his copy of the 1990’s remake of Night Of The Living Dead signed. She played Barbera in the movie and she hasn’t been here in over 10 years.

I have decided to justify the expense as being “once in a lifetime” kind of thing.

I’ve decided to be a lot more frugal over the next few months as my income is somewhat sporadic and not guaranteed to even cover rent at this stage.

I’m applying for jobs here, there and everywhere which is why I haven’t been at my local hangouts for a while.

I also need to become very frugal over the next few months as work starts to dry out.

When employers at multi million dollar companies decide to “cut costs”, it means reducing my hours, cutting my shifts and in the end I start losing money faster, edging me ever closer to homelessness.

Never let anyone demonise the consistent income of a 9-5 job or even welfare because it pays the rent and other bills and my sporadic income just isn’t cutting the mustard.

Rather than having one employer, I am employed by several companies offering short term sporadic casual / event based employment and I use apps to find yet more casual work.

This is the reason why I haven’t been at my local haunts for ages and have had to cancel various social engagements; work has had to come first.

It’s a weird balance at times. Socially, I know that sometimes the best work leads, advice, tips, and places to avoid come from networking with friends and friends of friends while trying to actually physically work to get the money I need for rent and other bills.

Financially, I’ve been reading books on various tips and tricks for money management and maximising investment and or savings which has helped somewhat.

It’s certainly quite humbling.

This is why I post a lot on Hive, in it’s various forms and frontends. It meets both a social need and also allows me to put aside an emergency cache of crypto of things get truly desperate.

I also know that I have stuff I can sell long before then.

In other positive news, a friend recommended an app called Finch. It’s aimed at a younger demographic )safe for kids), but it’s the modern equivalent of a Tamagotchi mixed with a daily To Do List.

I’m finding it somewhat motivational. If you choose to use it, my friend code is: Z1WQ1YW4HM.

Last night’s dinner was Chinese stir fry with blackbean sauce and fried rice from a Vietnamese restaurant.

The restaurant always makes these big serves.
I’ll need to be a lot more frugal from now on.

That’s all for now as it’s 2:37am and I need to sleep.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time, insist on being treated with dignity and respect and treat others the same.

Keep the hope alive, I am sure there is light at end of the tunnel.

My lad's heading to ComicCon on Sat with my Dad. It's his first one, so hopefully he enjoys himself.

There are all sorts of games and displays and competitions and things.

Wow good brother, Sounds like a tough balance you’re managing between work and life. Good luck with the job applications, and I hope you enjoy meeting Pat Tallman at Oz ComicCon 🥰🥰

Thank you. It’s worth looking at her IMDB page for the list of her stunt and acting work.

Absolutely will do great Shaidon 🥰
