Earlier in the week, I stopped by at the market to get some of the food items that is needed in the house. Doing market runs these days is not quite an easy task due to the intense heat out there so what I do is that I either go as early as possible in the morning before I start my day's activities or late in the evening after I'm done in the shop. At these two times I'm sure that the sun would not be as hot as it would be in the afternoon.
On this particular day I decided to go to the market in the evening after the days work. Since I already had it in mind that I was going for some shopping later in the day I had to ensure that I resumed early in the shop to finalize some dresses that I wanted to deliver.
The market was busy with buyers and sellers doing their business in every corner of the market. One of the major reason for the buzz in the market is the rounding off of the Ramadan season that will be market with Sallah celebration. The market is fillled with people trying to buy the food items that they will be preparing during the celebration. Others are buying clothes, accessories, shoes and the likes.
I really didn't spend so much time in the market but I ensure that I purchased all that I needed for the house. The main things I needed were noodles, spaghetti, beans, scotch bonnet, onions and some vegetables. I noticed the perpetual increase in the prices of some food items and it is becoming a cause for concern. Most times, it is almost impossible for the price of any goods that have gone up to come down. It always stays up.
I had a little challenge during my time in the market but I was lucky to get out of the mess in a short time. The thing is that I like to withdraw my money once I get to the market so as to avoid having challenges with vendors who don't have account numbers or the ones who only accept cash. So, I attempted to make a withdrawal from a POS vendor, I was debited but the transaction didn't go through on his machine - 'it showed declined'. I was stranded for about 15 minutes waiting for a reversal of the transaction as I didn't have any more funds with me.
At the end of the day I was able to buy some of the things that I wanted to buy because I had to reshuffle my list and budget. The prices that I budgeted was not the same when I got to the market. I had to remove some of the items on my list. I will be getting the remaining things during my next visit to the market.
