The term eating habit simply refers to the conscious decision a person or a culture takes in regards to what to eat as food which is mostly influenced by social and cultural factors, personal decisions, health needs, religious beliefs, ethical beliefs, and other numerous factors. Usually, eating habits are classified into two categories, bad eating habits and good eating habits. Our eating habits usually have their effects on our health positively and negatively. Our eating habits have great significant impacts on our health, our body has a certain nutritional need of a certain proportion of each class of food, which is referred to as the balanced diet.

Some individuals are against eating meat, fish and other animal products mostly due to religious, moral or health reasons. This set of individuals are called the vegetarians. Cultures that practice this are mostly from parts of India, Taiwan, Indonesia, Jamaica and some parts of Europe. These cultures include Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and the Rastafarians.

Eating habits in the Islamic world boil down to eating halal meals which are meals allowed by Islamic laws, and animals slaughtered by Islamic rituals, eating with gratitude, avoiding overeating and refraining from eating pork. Muslims are encouraged to eat slowly and share their meal with others which is a practice of Sadaka that fosters a sense of belonging.
In general, good eating habits involve the consumption of a balanced diet, eating fruits and vegetables and avoiding processed meals, and meals with excessive fat. It also involves eating at the right time, in the right quantity, avoiding overeating and avoiding eating too late at night, while bad eating habit is usually the opposite of good eating habits, involving skipping meals, eating too much, eating more processed foods, and snacks.
MY EATING HABIT
As I grew up and left home for a boarding school, it was time for me to have a new eating habit that was different from what I was used to. We eat three times daily, having our breakfast by 06:45 am, lunch by 02:00 pm and dinner at 06:45 pm. Although we had the option of having some provisions like biscuits, Garri, cornflake and other provisional items, I was still limited to eating less than 7 times a day. I became used to eating 3 times daily even while I was on holiday.
Today, with all my experience and all that I have said about eating habits, I have no specific time of eating, I eat whenever I feel hungry, and I have no preference over quality or quantity, I like my food to be balanced and at the same time I eat a good quantity of meal, I find pleasure and eating.
