Good day, fellow hivers! The students from our CTU Naga Extension Campus claimed victory through an intense street dance competition during the Dagital Festival.
As our team, covered in sweat and adrenaline, was crowned the winners of the street dancing competition at the Digital Festival, the air burst with energy. The triumph was well-deserved and the result of many hours of practice, constant commitment, and the spirit of unity that united us. We agreed to have a victory party in a nearby resort to celebrate, and the food committee offered to prepare the feast—a hearty and delicious dish of pancit bihon.
Why Bihon?
For our celebration, pancit bihon, a traditional Filipino dish of stir-fried rice noodles, looked like the ideal option. This meal, which represents wealth and good fortune, is appropriate for a celebration of victory. Moreover, it's a dish that can easily feed a crowd, perfect for sharing with 200 people, including the dancers, props, dancers master, choreographer, school faculty and the committee.
The Ingredients
Together Armed with a list of ingredients, I went grocery shopping the following day. The market was a bustling hub of activity, a riot of music and colour. I chose the freshest ingredients with care. Naturally,
bihon and pancit canton noodles are the main attraction.
For a flavorful protein foundation, use chicken.
For the vegetables, A colourful combination of carrots, cabbage, bell pepper and green beans.
Our dish received its rich aromatic base from using spring onions together with garlic and onions.
As base ingredients, fish sauce unites with oyster sauce, black pepper alongside soy sauce, but a minimal amount of seasoning and salt acts to maintain flavour balance.
It's time to cook.
I could feel the excitement when I was back in the school kitchen together with the food committee. My classmates happily helped with the preparations, filled with energy. The air was filled with the noises of expectation and laughter. I started by softening the bihon noodles by soaking them in warm water.
We prepared the remaining ingredients—sliced chicken, chopped vegetables, and minced aromatics—while they were soaking.
A robust wok received high-temperature heat before I added and sauteed onions and garlic until they became fragrant. I placed chicken pieces into the pan before periodically cooking until golden brown.
Add some water and combine it with a tasty mixture of soy sauce, fish sauce, along with oyster sauce.
The moment arrived to cook the noodles. The bihon noodles went into the wok after draining and mixing them together. Then, add some black pepper and a small amount of sugar to finish the dish.
A symphony of delicious chicken, aromatic veggies, and the delicate sweetness of the sauce permeated the air, creating an enticing scent. To guarantee that each noodle was evenly covered, we swirled constantly.
The moment for truth had arrived. Big platters from us held freshly garnished pancit bihon as the dish came straight from the heat. The enticing scent enticed every person present. This sunset moment would stay permanent in our memories because the naturally glimmering resort set the stage for memories that would last forever.
As the voyage reached its end we closed things with triumph and feasting that brought forth endless laughter in the perfection of our shared unforgettable adventure. Throughout our post-ceremony relaxation, we recognized that our promotion win represented the second victory besides the contest results because we'd built lasting memories and meaningful bonds.
