'Ofcourse I have the menu here where you can choose from. But... I also have the day specials, and you can choose how you want them made.'
All of a sudden I was all ears for no reason. Nearly every place has some kind of day special, but there was something triggering on how he said it that made me want to know more about it.
'What do you mean with how you want it to be made'
'Well that is the deal lady. I have some fresh fish here, and the idea is to use the fresh fish tonight. So you can either not choose it and it will be in the fish soup tomorrow, or you can decide if you want this piece turned into a tataki, into a ceviche, into the pasta or into a filet'
Say no more..I'm in!!
This Amberjack fish turned into a fantastic ceviche (for the ones who are not aware of the concept of ceviche, this is where the fish is 'cooked until done' but without the cooking. It is made in the acid of citrus fruits, so it stays super fresh in taste but it the bacteria are still killed) with some sweet potato mousse and peppers over there.
The next one was a piece of tuna (here in the meds you mostly only have yellowfin tuna which are a bit smaller than atlantic tuna) and seared into a fantastic tataki with some green salad and dates on the side. The piece is nice and squared and all of the left over pieces are turned into broth. Love the concept!
Then also there was this awesome vongole pasta which is a garlic pasta with clamps in there. Super tasty and also good visuals. And apart from that I also love it when the food takes a bit of work like when getting all of the clamps out of the shells.
Everything about this place was just fantastic using eith whatever was caught during the day. Why eat off of the menu when there is also the option is eating what was freshly caught. I love fresh food from the sea!
