I've been strict with my food and pretty much-tracked everything until I was back in Yogyakarta and reunited with this heavenly bowl of egg noodles.
A great bowl of egg noodles is my kryptonite—literally. The aroma of the steaming broth, the sight of the perfectly cooked noodles, and the taste of the flavorful chicken stock all come together to create a heavenly experience. Once I had my first bite, I could turn into a pig and fall asleep. Somehow, noodles are a part of my staple everywhere I go, and I wouldn't miss sampling them.
In Indonesia, Egg noodles are typically served in a rich broth with chicken stock and flavor enhancers. They also have a slice of Bokchoy to make it slightly healthier, various fried dumplings, and minced flavored chicken.
One of my favorite egg noodle places is Yamie Panda. This noodle joint exists only in the neighboring cities of Yogyakarta. I wished they had expanded to another province, but unfortunately, they don't.
Yamie Panda, one of my favorite egg noodle places, offers a variety of bowls, from diet size to the most enormous egg noodles you'll ever have. Their unique options, packed with dumplings, are a filling and heavenly experience that I haven't found elsewhere. The broth, perfectly crafted, complements the egg noodles, making each bite a delight.
Don't worry about the price because their starting price is under $1 and some of their biggest bowl costs not more than $3.
This place's interior is as if we're eating in a cozy 面馆 that feels homey. This joint is in front of a busy avenue where people rush to their destinations. It adds quite a unique atmosphere compared to their other chain in another place.
Here's a fun fact: Yamie Panda, the noodle joint I'm talking about, has a very affordable menu. During my college days, I survived on these noodles. Back then, I didn't have a fridge at my place, and they even sold ice cubes for a couple of cents. That's what I bought whenever I craved homemade iced coffee. The memories of those days always bring back a sense of satisfaction, and I realize that perhaps I've had too much of this egg noodle; my palate is more familiar with this taste.
