Tequeños are a traditional Venezuelan food that even though they have a simple appearance, they have a very interesting flavor, they also have a very important meaning in the Venezuelan public. This food can be seen more frequently in parties, both large and small, since it is easy to prepare, which makes it very practical for all kinds of events. Tequeños are made with wheat flour dough and white cheese, although there are other variants that are less known.
INGREDIENTS
The ingredients to prepare the tequeños are:
- Wheat flour
- White cheese
- Vegetable oil
- Sugar
- Milk
- Water
- Oregano
- Salt
I should clarify that oregano and milk do not necessarily have to be in the ingredients, but I add them on the recommendation of a good friend.

PREPARATION
Add milk, water and oil in a pot in order to reach a warm temperature, it does not have to be very hot. We try to mix everything, although we know that oil does not mix with water.

To approximately 750 grams of wheat flour, we add oregano and salt to taste, in addition, we add the mixture of water, oil and milk. We mix everything until we obtain a homogeneous dough as shown in the photo. Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes.

I took a mallet and flattened and stretched the dough until it was much thinner than a pizza dough, the thickness can be to your liking. To the stretched dough I made some cuts to obtain some strips (see photos), which will be used to assemble our tequeños.

The white cheese should be cut into small rectangles, these will serve us to have a reference of the size of the tequeños, the size is also to taste of each person.

Now, to assemble the tequeños, we must take one of the strips of dough and slowly wrap the cheese rectangle until it is completely sealed, we must try to use the least amount of dough possible, it is important that there are no leaks of cheese at the time of frying the tequeños.

Fry the tequeños in vegetable oil until golden brown, we must be careful that the oil is not too hot so that the dough is not raw inside, we also need the cheese to melt. And well, the result is beautiful fingers of dough filled with delicious white cheese.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE SAUCE
These tequeños go quite well with sauces, so I decided to prepare one with cilantro, onion, paprika and capers, I also used mayonnaise and mustard.

PREPARATION OF THE SAUCE
Liquefy the onion, paprika, capers and cilantro, but not for so long that they do not disintegrate, the idea is that they remain lumpy. Then I added mayonnaise and mustard to taste. This sauce has a sour touch, but with a fresh seasoning flavor that serves as a perfect complement to the tequeños.

This is how I present the tequeños, this little delight that can be enjoyed and shared at parties, get-togethers or simply at home. It is the first time I dare to make these, I must confess that I received help, but from now on I know I will be able to make them on my own. It was a pleasure to share!
