A tasty dish inspired by a Chinese classic, char siu chicken can be easily cooked in an oven, roasting pan, or air fryer. I've made this char siu several times since so today I'll lift and twist ingredients a bit to another step by making Chicken Char Siu and serving with Jade Noodles. Well, it turned out so delicious. Traditionally, char siu is usually made with pork marinated in sauces of red color from red fermented bean curd, and served with jade noodles.
Jade noodles are a type of egg noodles. They are mainly made from chicken eggs and all-purpose flour, then mixed with the puree of kale leaves or spinach leaves. This is a very quick meal to prepare especially if you can buy fresh Jade Noodles from a local grocery shop, and it cost around 0.74 USD per 1/2 kg here in Thailand.
For this recipe, I marinated the chicken thigh by using the red fermented bean curd, Shaoxing wine, oyster sauce, soy sauce, five spices, honey, and pepper for about an hour then roasted the chicken by air flyer for 20 minutes more. These simple recipes are great for easy dinners during the mid-week that'll please everyone in my family.
Here what's we need to make Chicken Char Siu with Jade Noodles
The Ingredient for marinating the Chicken Char Siu
- 500 Gram of Chicken Thigh
- 3 Tablespoon of Red Fermented Bean Curd (Red Food Coloring is Optional)
- 1 Tablespoon of Seasoning Soy Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon of Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon of Garlic
- 1 Tablespoon of Honey
- 1 Tablespoon of Chinese Five Spices Powder
- 1 Teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon of Shaoxing wine
- 1/4 Cup of Finely Sliced Carrot
- 1/4 Cup of Finely Sliced Cabbage
- 1/4 Cup of Finely Sliced Chinese Kale
- 1/2 Cup of Garlic Oil
- 1/2 Cup Garlic Oil
- 1 Pack of Jade Noodles
How to cook Chicken Char Siu with Jade Noodles
Drop all the ingredients into the chicken thigh, then mix them. Keep in the fridge overnight or at least 1 hour for the marinade.
Put the aluminum foil on the air flyer as a tray. Put the chicken and marinade then roast at 175°C for 10 minutes and turn to another side for 10 minutes.
How to blanch the Noodles
Separate and rinse with running water to get rid of the flour that coats all over the noodle away.
Drop the noodles into boiled water and stir them on a chopstick for 1 minute then remove the noodles and rinse the water off.
Pour the garlic oil onto the noodle to protect the noodles from sticking together.
Whisk the noodles and reserve the garlic for garnish later.
Blanch all the vegetables for about 1 minute.
All the ingredients are ready to combine.
A time to serve! Garnish the noodles with fried garlic, marinade sauce, and spring onions.
💗 I love Chicken Char Siu with Jade Noodles because it is super easy to cook and extremely delicious. This is the recipe that I usually cook for a busy mid-week lunch or dinner.
Hope you guys enjoy my recipe and have a happy day ahead. 🙏😀❤️🌸🙆
