“¡Háblale a Dios sobre tus planes y se reirá de tí!”

El 10 de Enero, mi esposo cumplió años y como es tradición lo invité a almorzar. Él quería comer carne asada y según las investigaciones que hicimos, el restaurante Krossbar ofrecía la mejor carne asada de la ciudad de Antofagasta. Sin embargo, cuando llegamos a este lugar, estaba cerrado, por lo tanto tuvimos que ir a otro llamado “Mexican Grill and Bar”.
El plan era llevar a mi esposo a almorzar en un lugar exclusivo por su cumpleaños y donde sirvieran la mejor carne asada. Cabe informar que este es un lujo que nos damos dos veces al año, en el cumpleaños de Nando y en el mío.
Al buscar información en la página web del restaurante Krossbar encontramos que tiene una buena calificación y buenos comentarios, especialmente de la carne asada. Su ubicación y el horario es desde la 1:00 de la tarde hasta la 5:00 de la mañana. Después de hacer esta pequeña investigación no había ninguna duda que Krossbar era el lugar adecuado para hacerle pasar un momento inolvidable al cumpleañero.
Al día siguiente, cuando llegamos al lugar en cuestión, estaba cerrado. Pensamos que era porque habíamos llegado muy temprano, 1:30 pm. Pero, no había señal del personal ni nada parecido. No había movimiento de ningún tipo. Estuvimos esperando como hasta la 1:45 pm, hasta que con mucha tristeza y decepción, nos tocó improvisar e ir en busca de otro restaurante. Por suerte, en esta avenida que se llama República de Croacia, hay muchos restaurantes, prácticamente uno al lado del otro, por lo que nos lanzamos a la aventura de buscar una buena carne asada.
Después de caminar un rato y ver en Google las calificaciones de los restaurantes, llegamos a uno que nos llamó la atención por su decoración tan llamativa y porque contaba con buena calificación y buenos comentarios. Este restaurante se llama “Mexican Grill and Bar”: Aranza Bistro, y por supuesto si llevaba en su nombre la palabra “Grill” había carne a la parrilla.
Al entrar, nos recibió una amable joven y nos preguntó dónde queríamos sentarnos. Elegimos una mesa para dos personas. Sin embargo, cuando me senté, me dí cuenta que la mesa y las sillas se sentían muy pequeñas y también, noté que era algo oscuro, la luz natural, era escasa. Sin embargo, no quise comentarle nada a Nando, ya que no quería arruinar la ocasión.
Inmediatamente, se acercó otra joven con unos panecillos y una salsa que colocó en la mesa. Acto seguido, nos indicó que podíamos ver el menú a través del código QR que estaba marcado en el servilletero y se retiró para que nosotros pudiéramos elegir nuestros platos. Aunque el restaurante tenía temática mexicana, el menú era muy variado. Tenía tanto comida mexicana como peruana.
Cuando ya habíamos decidido lo que íbamos a comer, llamamos a la joven que nos estaba atendiendo y ordenamos como entrada un ceviche. Debo decir que el ceviche tenía una decoración muy linda, con la ración perfecta y además estaba delicioso. También, pedimos un par de limonadas con jengibre y menta para brindar por el cumpleañero. En esta oportunidad, no quisimos tomar ninguna bebida alcohólica.
El plato principal, fue lo que quería Nando, un asado, el cual lo pedimos “Mar y Tierra” porque yo no puedo comer carne roja. Así que él se comió la parte de “tierra” y yo la de “mar”. En cuanto a este plato, no me convenció del todo, porque no se sentía recién hecho. Parecía recalentado y la verdad es que el pulpo y los calamares no estaban tan buenos. Afortunadamente, al cumpleañero le gustó la carne.
Por otro lado, mientras comíamos, pedimos otras bebidas, esta vez fresas con zumo de limón y nos encantó tanto como la anterior. Dije que la iba a preparar en casa.
Una de las cosas que Nando y yo amamos hacer después de almuerzo es tomarnos un café negro, pero lamentablemente, este restaurante no ofrecía café en grano, sino instantáneo y nosotros no soportamos el café instantáneo. En mi opinión, es horrible!
Antes de irnos, le tomamos unas cuantas fotos a la decoración del restaurante y nos fuimos en búsqueda de un café porque el cumpleañero no podía quedarse sin tomarse su café de granos. ¡La experiencia tenía que ser completa!
Caminamos a lo largo de la avenida Croacia hasta que por fin llegamos a un restaurante llamado “Aromas Costaneras” que tenía un espacio con una pequeña cafetería y nos pareció tan bonita que entramos y disfrutamos de un delicioso café que venía acompañado de unas galletitas, además nos encantó el lugar porque entraba mucha luz natural. De verdad que se sentía bien agradable y la atención fue muy buena. Creo que ahí será nuestra próxima aventura foodie.
Aunque la experiencia no fue lo que esperábamos, decidimos seguir el plan que el universo tenía para nosotros, especialmente para mi esposo que estaba de cumpleaños. Traté que él pasara un momento agradable y sintiera que no importa lo que pase, pues, así sea con pequeños detalles, lo importante es crear experiencias memorables juntos, apoyándonos con el amor que sentimos uno por el otro.

On January 10, my husband had his birthday and as is tradition I invited him to lunch. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly young lady and asked where we wanted to sit. We chose a table for two. However, when I sat down, I noticed that the table and chairs felt very small and also, I noticed that it was somewhat dark, natural light, was scarce. However, I didn't want to say anything to Nando, as I didn't want to ruin the occasion.
Immediately, another young woman approached us with some rolls and a sauce that she placed on the table. She then indicated that we could see the menu through the QR code that was marked on the napkin holder and left so that we could choose our dishes. Although the restaurant was Mexican themed, the menu was very varied. It had both Mexican and Peruvian food.
When we had already decided what we were going to eat, we called the young lady who was serving us and ordered a ceviche as a starter. I must say that the ceviche was beautifully decorated, perfectly portioned and delicious. We also ordered a couple of lemonades with ginger and mint to toast the birthday boy. On this occasion, we didn't want to drink any alcoholic beverages.
The main course was what Nando wanted, an asado, which we ordered “Mar y Tierra” because I can't eat red meat. So he ate the “land” part and I ate the “sea” part. As for this dish, I wasn't entirely convinced, because it didn't feel freshly made. It looked reheated and the truth is that the octopus and calamari were not that good. Fortunately, the birthday boy liked the meat.
On the other hand, while we were eating, we ordered other drinks, this time strawberries with lemon juice and we loved it as much as the previous one. I said I was going to make it at home.
One of the things Nando and I love to do after lunch is to have a black coffee, but unfortunately, this restaurant didn't offer coffee beans, but instant and we can't stand instant coffee. In my opinion, it is horrible!
Before we left, we took a few pictures of the restaurant's decor and went in search of a coffee because the birthday boy couldn't be without his coffee beans. The experience had to be complete!
We walked along Croatia Avenue until we finally arrived at a restaurant called "Aromas Costaneras ” which had a space with a small cafeteria and we thought it was so nice that we went in and enjoyed a delicious coffee that came with some cookies, we also loved the place because it had a lot of natural light. It really felt nice and the service was very good. I think that will be our next foodie adventure.
Although the experience was not what we expected, we decided to follow the plan that the universe had for us, especially for my husband who had a birthday. I tried to make him have a nice time and feel that no matter what happens, even with small details, the important thing is to create memorable experiences together, supporting each other with the love we feel for each other.
