Hospital appointments
Last week I had a few hospital appointments and one of them was in the city, in the evening, not ideal but it was the only available appointment with this type of specialist within 3 weeks from booking it. As I wanted to see a specialist as soon as possible, this was the slot I quickly booked, even though it was fully expected to take much longer as docs run late once the day progresses. I was right, it took over an hour after my appointment time before we were called in.
We were waiting in the waiting room and all three of us were so hungry that I was happy to realize that at least this long wait would mean that for once we'd leave the hospital and have options where to grab a bite, even if it were just a bunch of tapas. Usually I plan my appointments much earlier so this is a rare event.
Parking
Thankfully parking has become much easier now that it's winter. Where we'd have to drive past the full boulevard in summer and fall to realize there was not one free spot, we now had many free options to park the car. The parking issue was the reason we never checked this franchise restaurant before because we have one in our town, but it's much smaller and I was curious for the bigger version ever since I learned about it.
A little wait
When we arrived, we only had to wait for 15 minutes until the kitchen opened, we were one of the 10 people inside but around us they were doing some sort of photoshoot so I felt a bit bothered to take many pictures myself while they were there.
The interior looks a bit similar to our little version over here, in Budapest the biggest part would be checked off as a ruin pub. Sadly that's not really noticeable in this one picture of the inside of the place. All other tables and chairs were non matching and definitely gave us ruin pub vibes. Those were my favourite finds in Budapest, because they had a certain charm.
Food!
This was the first time we noticed that they also have complentary tapas here, haha. So every time my boyfriend orders a beer here, we could have gotten a free tapa to try out, but yet we never noticed and always ordered shared plates instead. Oops. I like the place but it's a bit overpriced so not sure if we'll go there again.
My daughter loves their chicken strips and I love the guacamole salsa they serve with the chicken strips, my daughter prefers the bbq sauce instead, the cheese sauce they serve is nice too.
With that we order a portion of 3 different fries, from yucca, sweet and regular potatoes. It's always a struggle to let the little one eat the sweet and yucca fries as well because she doesn't like these as much. Thankfully I'm ok with these so I usually sacrifice myself to eat the healthier ones, lol. They serve them with several dips so we always have plenty of dips to choose from.
There's one of these dips with curcuma which is so odd but with the sweet potato fries it was a great flavour explosion, so I learned that evening.
My boyfriend ordered a noodle dish with beef, the meat doesn't look too appealing but that's the bad lightning in the room, it was quite nice according to him.
As we discovered the tapas option that evening, we decided to check how big the chicken strips tapa would be and discovered that we were much smarter ordering two of these accompanied with a beer (for free) than buying half a portion. We normally never buy portions because it's been proven so many times that you're better off getting several tapas and have the same amount of food (often for free, sometimes with a supplement of 2 euros more or less) compared to the portions that are much more expensive. But we never noticed it on the menu, lol.
The second tapa we choose was a nacho dip with guacamole, which was nice as well.
Conclusion
We could have saved some money over here by paying a bit more attention but at least we found out that evening. As I said I like the ambiance of the place but n the bill that follows. I believe they're a bit overpriced for what they are but sometimes you just want food asap and pick the first option that you find, such was the case that evening.
