Sunday Fun Day - One Final Swim & Good Food!

Pool closure marks the end of summer

I already gave up on swimming the last time that I took my daughter about a week ago as the water was so cold already. Whenever I'd be out of the water, the wind would make it very uncomfortable for my back and I had back aches all evening after that.. But still having fabulous weather just below 30 degrees Celsius also means that the pool still looks very appealing and I noticed that Sunday (the final opening day) would have a lot less wind than the previous days of the week.. When we woke up on Sunday I proposed having one final swim. My boyfriend agreed and after having a quick breakfast, off we went.

Cold with a capital C!

It was so COLD, I'm not even joking! I didn't have the usual sense of "oh how refreshing" at all, I was just shivering hoping to get used to it really soon. Amazing to see how quickly such a big pool cools off at the end of summer. These final weeks, we barely saw anyone swimming and mostly noticed the lifeguard sitting there, two times a day for four hours in a row, waiting to see if anyone would go for a swim. Most of the hours, there wasn't one person, some exceptional hours, a few took a quick dive but nobody was going for long swims anymore. We had one die hard sunbather who wanted to make the most out of the summer and kept coming every day for an hour or so.

People started to take their pool chairs out last week, clearly stating that their pool moments ended for this year and slowly, I started to realise that this was it. Cooler evenings are already a fact and I can't say that I hate it. I was done with all day AC turned on, while I find opening windows and air blowing through the house much more appealing, yet this is not something you do with extreme high humidity and no wind. I welcome the wind with open arms as now I'm typing this from my brand new and mostly cool office!

Anyway, we stayed in the pool for 1,5 hours I think, with me trying to heat up in the sun half of that time, trying to just a little more tan to my skin to last throughout the winter. Meanwhile, the others were floating around in the pool with the result of my boyfriend being sunburned in the face, haha. How's that for a final swim of the year lol. I personally didn't burn anymore after the first two weeks, must be thanks to my half south-Slavic genes..

Early dinner

As school really starts today in terms of the learning part, we figured this is really the end of summer so let's close it off with a final early dinner in the harbour. Usually, I eat a salad there but this time we saw some beef tenderloin passing our table to show it to another customer. It seemed really good quality so even though I'm not the biggest meat eater, this was one of these moments where I joined my boyfriend and ordered a beef tenderloin for once.

It was delicious!

Typical tiny salad on the side, lol.

I didn't regret having something different for once.. I always think if I eat meat, it better be worth it as so often restaurants disappoint serving lower quality for high prices. In these cases I really enjoy a good well-balanced salad much more.

Gratitude

Sitting there in the harbour, with probably the best view of all the restaurants and bars out there, we took a moment to take in the view and realise how lucky we are that this spot is minutes away from our home. Not only can we sit there comfortably, the temperatures always seem to be best no matter what time in the year it is. During the summer, they have this terrace with a roof where you can sit out of the sun and in winter, you take one of the tables where the sun heats up your face.

Sometimes these tiny things can bring so much joy and life seems perfect for a little while...

What a way to end the swimming season! The cold swim! Glad you warmed up afterwards!

Glad you had a great dinner and enjoyed the view. Sometimes the simple things in life are the most satisfying...
Not sure where I am on token calls, senility kicking in?

Oh man, it was cold indeed. I already didn't really fancy it much anymore a few weeks ago when I noticed the wind made me feel frozen upon exiting the pool.. but then the sun eventually made it worth it and the water wasn't that cold yet either. But now, I stood there like 10 minutes on my toes before I dove in, normally I just go instantly.

Currently, since last week, we made it habit to sit on the balcony at least 3 times a day with a coffee or drink, let the view sink in and enjoy the cooler weather. It wasn't pleasant throughout summer to sit there, but now, it's divine. We can achieve those moments on the balcony as well, I think I might opt for balcony lunches/dinners for a while before the wind really picks up in a few months.

Cheaper than tapas and restaurants ;)

Brisk, that's what I call it. Colorado River is like that. We were there every day, back in the day. The river only fluctuates 3 degrees: 67-69F year round. But when it's 120F outside, brisk was the word.

Hello.

Without question, just so you know, everyone who sees that beef slab hopes it tastes better than it looks...

= }

Shoot, this message reminds me that I never responded to your previous one. Sorry about that !LUV

WTF that's clos to 50 degrees Celsius (yeah we only do Celsius here remember haha).. that's just not fun anymore!

Hi!

Oh trust me when I say that beef slap tasted better than the average steak you can order anywhere here. For some reason it seems that they can do great or amazing Iberico pork (like it never disappoints) but beef, that's another story!

This was a very good piece but you can't see it being covered in pepper sauce haha. My boyfriend told me he prefers the beef with just butter on top over the sauce. But that comes from a person who eats a piece of beef most days and doesn't really fancy anything on the side either..

How's everything over there at the moment? You know you can always spam some Atlas pictures here, right? :)

She's so pretty.. I'd almost want a dog again looking at her. I really love dogs, actually I love most pets but the having to walk them constantly through every weather is not appealing to me anymore. When I see your pictures I'm like dayum where do you live with all that green??? That's definitely appealing to walk every day..

Enjoy the rainy day inside, I think a lazy day is ok! Writing this from the fabulous (yet cloudy) Spanish temperature, of course. :)

Much love to you!

Oh man, she loves boy dogs! You got a handsome fella there. Can't keep mine out of the water either.

Nice to meet you. You know what I mean.

Thank you! Haha, yeah, my boy is quite the ladies’ man! And I totally get it, once they're near water, it's like they can’t resist. Nice to meet you too, sounds like our pups would have a blast together!

I believe you enjoyed that all summer, too bad it's over. For you guys, it might be very welcome to get some lower temperatures, but I can't say I'm looking forward to it. At this point, I'd give anything to have some warmer temperatures... AND a pool like that within reach. Lol.

Oh I know exactly what you mean, in Holland my opinion would be the same, you know that. I hate the cold and wet period in Holland so much that I would feel shit about that too. Having a pool like that within reach feels so luxury, while in reality, here in Spain it's quite normal. It's extra luxury if you can choose between the beach 5 minutes walking or the pool in the community garden.

Although I haven't swam in the sea once this year, and now I think it's too cold so next year again, I guess lol.

Hopefully the fall will be kind to you this year.. !PIMP
