367 straight weeks of #beersaturday nothing to sneeze at, even on a Wednesday. Can you calculate the thousands of dollars paid out in Hive, BEER and author rewards for all the abuse our livers have taken?
Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.
This week, our liquor stores are closed and on strike so I have to get crafty!

Pint 'O the Week!
The PotW is a popular jam because it is usually a beer enjoyed on the town or otherwise in a social or business setting that we don't get to visit all the time. This Fairweather Donna Pils is a very nice, clean yet flavourful pilsner from maybe an hour and a half down the road.
Probably my favourite part about this beer is it was enjoyed at this fabulous bar www.revival.house owned by a good friend who knows his craft beer! We are in the works of planning a Beer Festival in these hallowed halls in the fall and I will definitely bring you along for that one.

Strike at the Liquor Store!

Source
It has been slow going with discovering new regional craft beers at our LCBO because the doors are closed due to a strike! In this province, the liquor stores are owned and operated by the provincial government. On the plus side, they are the single largest purchaser of alcohol on the planet, and use that buying power (along with making all the rules) to make a tidy profit. The downside is that we are taxed fairly heavily, they can be draconian with the smaller providers who want to sell through the LCBO, and I find government and union-run organizations to be a little upper management bloated and inefficient.
Besides that, they can strike and make it harder to beer blog!

Cold Pop!
Not to worry though as you are dealing with a professional Beerologist here and the show must go on. Certain grocery stores are permitted to sell beer and wine so this is definitely not a dry county. In fact, I picked up a new beer from one of my favourite breweries Nickel Brook Brewing Company They were trailblazers in IPA when I started my slippery slide into obsession with that style and were 1 of less than a dozen on the shelves years ago. Now, they have a new one for me to sample!
Cold Pop is more of an India Pale Lager than an ale as it is fermented in colder temperatures but I am alright with that. Lighter on the malt but a nice sweet hop that doesn't swim with residual sugars. A good dry finish that doesn't punish you and a solid beer altogether for sure!
Good to see you again old friend!

Town Crier IPA
I haven't actually missed the liquor store closure at all mainly because we brew our own beer at our tech start up marketing company www.towncriermarketing.ca Having partnered with a local brewer, we have rocked a couple nice IPAs out and are on our third shown here which is a New England IPA with wheat and oats for haze and smooth mouthfeel. I bring them home from the taps at the office in big bottles called growlers in these parts.

It is a bit of a contradiction in terms because the usual sweet and citrussy that you expect with an east coast IPA is balanced out with a healthy shot of dry and dank courtesy of extra Simcoe hops. A serious IPA with a serious amount of grain in the bill to make it clock in at just under 6% ABV. They don't last long enough to name each of them but we are experimenting to find our perfect balance of hops. Once we do, maybe we will add a name and a brand for the fun of it. No money in brewing at this scale when you consider the brewers are used to charging a hundred dollars an hour and won't give up those day jobs. Wonderful hobby when you are just brewing for the crew.

#BEERSaturday!

Would consider brewing this with a little ghost pepper for that real bunghole blast!
