Hello everyone!!
How's your weather out there? Here, it's been raining for, I think, three days already, although it's just scattered rain showers, but still, it's so gloomy.
As for my blog today, let's make a healthy dish again. It is a very simple and affordable dish, but a healthy one. My husband and my daughter @tegoshei bought the vegetables at the nearest local market yesterday. A chance for my daughter to have a morning walk because, fortunately, the rain had stopped at that time.
So, without further ado, let's start preparing our recipe for the day!
Veggie Balls with Gravy Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
- Squash
- Carrot
- Chayote
- Egg
- Onion
- Garlic
- Spring Onion
- All-Purpose Flour
- Ground Black Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- Magic Sarap Seasoning
- Paprika
- Canola Oil
- Cold Water
PREPARATION:
Wash and peel the squash and then shred them.
Wash and peel the carrot and then shred.
Wash and peel the chayote and then shred them also.
Set them aside separately in small bowls.
Although you can just put them in one container, I just wanted to place them in a separate bowl individually first.
So now, let's prepare the spices.
Peel and wash the onion, then slice or cut into small pieces.
Crash and peel garlic, then cut into tiny pieces.
Wash, clean, and remove the roots of the spring onions and then cut them into small pieces.
Wash the tomato and cut it into small pieces.
Set all the ingredients aside.
COOKING TIME:
Boil some water in a pot or cooker, then slightly cook the veggies or just blanch it. Put off the heat and then transfer the veggies into cold water in a bigger bowl to retain their crunchiness and crispness. Then, strain the water from the veggies.
Put the veggies in a big bowl, and crack one or two eggs depending on the size of the egg. Then, season with ground black pepper, magic sarap, garlic powder, and paprika. (I already mixed these mentioned ingredients in a small container because I always use them when cooking.)
Then, gradually add all-purpose flour and mix them all until your desired consistency.
Now let's put on the cooker again. Heat some canola oil. Scoop some mixed veggies using a spoon and have another spoon to guide you in putting the veggies in a heated cooking oil. (You can mold the mixed veggies, too, so you can make a perfect rounded ball. In the case of scooping by spoon, it's hard to make a perfect ball, but I am used to doing it, especially when I do not have enough time.)
Continue frying the veggie mixture until it's all finished. Then, put the cooked veggie balls on a plate with a kitchen towel to remove excess oil.
Let's make a gravy sauce now.
Preheat the pan, then add 4 tbsp of canola oil or butter, then add seasoning. (I used my personal ready-mixed powdered seasoning) or you can also use any flavor of Knorr cube seasoning.
Mix them by stirring, then add 4 tbsp of flour. Continue stirring until the flour melts. Then, add 4 to 5 cups of water. Continue cooking by stirring the mixture constantly until it becomes smooth and has a nice texture. Then, put off the heat and transfer the gravy sauce into a bowl.
Here are now our veggie balls (not very round, though...heheh) but it's yummy, especially when they are paired with this tasteful gravy sauce.
Let's have a bite, guys...😊😋
This dish is really good for either dinner or just snacks. It tastes good and healthy too. I hope you like this kind of food.
Thank you so much for visiting, and see you again on my next post. God bless...🙏❤
