I hope everyone has a great day today. So, on New Year's Eve my friends stayed over at my house, then in the morning I and one of my friends went to the market close to my house. We went to the market to buy breakfast. Then we were interested in buying Pukis cakes, we happened to pass by the seller. I want to tell a little story and introduce one of Indonesian snacks, called Pukis Cake. When you hear the word cake, people will definitely assume that its shape is similar to a regular cake. But, It's more like bread or pancakes.
Where I bought the pukis cake there were two forms. Some are round and some are shaped like most pukis cakes. To be honest, I have previously encountered round pukis cakes. Only in this place I found this. There are two flavors of pukis cake sold here, chocolate and pandan. For a chocolate taste, chocolate sprinkles are usually added to it. Meanwhile, the Pandan flavored one has a green color and smells like pandan. Because I love chocolate, my favorite is chocolate-flavored pukis cake. However, I also like the taste of pandan.
The photo above shows the process of baking Pukis cake. Actually the word grilling is a bit inappropriate, but I don't know the right word to describe the cooking process. So, they put a pan shaped like a mold on the stove. Then smear it with margarine so it doesn't stick. After that, pour the mixture that has been prepared. Pukis cake dough is a bit runny, yes, it's a bit like pancake dough. Then after pouring it into the mold, cover it until cooked. That's roughly the process of making this pukis cake.
Pukis cake is quite popular among Indonesian people, especially Jakarta residents. Apart from its delicious taste, it is also affordable. By the way, this cake tastes sweet but not as sweet as the usual cake. So, it's safe for those who don't really like sweets.
