Today I show you this delicious dish, a "Venezuelan funche" a family recipe that was passed down from generation to generation. Funche was a very typical food in Venezuela, although today very few of us know about it. However, it is an excellent opportunity to nourish yourself because of its high content of nutrients and calories. It is a type of polenta that differs because it is prepared with corn flour that is made with raw grain. It is used to accompany some meals or to serve as a portion and taste.
INGREDIENTES/INGREDIENTS:
- Harina precocida de maíz / Precooked corn flour
- Agua / Water
- Vegetales: ají, cebollín, cebolla / Vegetables: chili, chives, onion
- Hierbas aromáticas / Aromatic herbs
- Pollo o carne / Chicken or beef
- Condimentos / Seasonings
*Polvo de colorante / Coloring powder - Aceite/ Oil
- Sal al gusto/ Salt to taste
PASOS/ STEPS:
Paso 1/ Step 1:
We start by cutting the vegetables in an irregular shape, keeping a size to preference.
Paso 2 / Step 2:
In the pot that we will use to cook this delicacy, we will make the mixture. Here we will place the water, chicken or meat, the vegetables and the powdered coloring.
Paso 3 / Step 3:
Then we will boil this mixture for approximately 10 minutes or until it has enough boil.
Paso 4 / Step 4:
For this step we only need to add the flour little by little and stir until all the mixture has been integrated. When a compact mixture has been made, we place it in the container of our preference and let it rest for several minutes.
