Eating well on Sunday is one thing I’m always after because after a stressful week, we should have a good food to compliment the stress. Today, I want to teach you all how to make a proper Nigerian Jollof Rice. Here, I will be using just a few ingredients that I have at hand to make my Jollof Rice.
Ingredients
For this Jollof Rice, I’ll be using
Veg.oil
Onions
Tomatoes
Pepper
Curry & Thyme
Maggi/ Seasoning
Salt
Rice
What I did first was pour my pour my Veg.oil in the hot pot. A lot of people wait for the oil to get hot before they pour their onions but it’s going to be too hot and mostly makes the onions brown so I poured my Veg.oil and added my onions immediately.
I’m not a fan of burnt onions even though a lot of people say that it is sweet. Instead, I’ll wait for it to fry a lil bit and put in my tomato paste and pepper which gives it a pepper mix. This time, I made sure that I put enough pepper in the mix so my Jollof Rice can be colorful and a bit spicy.
The next step is the most crucial and any mistake from here may ruin the taste of the whole food. Many Nigerians like me don’t know so much about measuring the amount of salt, seasoning and all that we put. I measured it with my eyes and I put my salt, maggi, curry and thyme in my pepper mix.
Once it is well cooked, I pour some water and pour my rinsed Rice into it. After pouring some water, it is important to not that the water is boiled before pouring your Rice.
Take this as an example.
That’s all and you wait for your water to get dried. That means your food is ready. You can dish it into a plate just like I dished mine in my food container. I boiled some egg alongside my Rice.
My food looks yummy. I’m glad to tell you that I enjoyed this meal with my family. Happy Sunday.
