Thursday, March 28, has been a fairly quiet day, and a low level of work. My #life has been calm, and despite working from home (as it is a week with days of religious holidays) I must point out that the little work that I receive and that I have carried out is something that catches my attention a little.

There is nothing more to comment on personal matters. Seriously, I lead a life so calm that it can be considered boring, and that gives me joy (personal smile). I think that today's record is going to be brief, but it is better that I go on to comment on the Anniversary of #History that I wanted to share today. We are celebrating a #cake, so we are on the topic of #food, and it is one of the chocolate cake presentations, which are one of the most popular in the world. Today is 'Black Forest Cake Day'.

Jueves, 28 de marzo, ha sido un día bastante tranquilo, y de bajo nivel de trabajo. Mi #vida ha estado en calma, y a pesar de trabajar desde casa (como es una semana con días de festividad religiosa) debo señalar que el poco trabajo que me llega y que he sacado adelante es algo que me llama la atención un poco.

No hay más que comentar en asuntos personales. En serio que llevo una vida tan calmada que puede considerarse aburrida, y me da alegría tal cosa (sonrisa personal). Creo que el registro de hoy me va a quedar breve, pero es mejor que pase a comentar sobre la Efeméride de la #Historia que quería compartir hoy. Estamos en una fecha de celebración de una #torta, así que estamos en el tema de la #comida, y se trata de una de las presentaciones de torta de chocolate, que son de las más populares en el mundo. Hoy es el ‘Día de la Torta Selva negra’.

This cake is of German origin. It is noted that its origin is in the city Baden-Baden (federated state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany), which is located on the slopes of the Black Forest. A sour #cherry wine has been produced there since the Middle Ages (Schwarzwälder Kirsch), and since the beginning of the 20th century a #chocolate cake has been produced that takes its name from the nearby forest. The liquor thing caught my attention, because it turns out that it is one of the original ingredients in the initial cake recipe.

I was surprised that the recipe did not have older records, it happens that the reference I consulted indicates that there is one of the first publications of the recipe in Berlin, in 1934. I expected it to be older, plus I expected it to be It was first published in the Baden-Bade region. But, I suppose that its presentation in the bakeries and #sweet sales of the German capital was what triggered its popularity. Currently, this cake is in 13th place in the ranking of popularity of German cakes.

The cake is originally called Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, and if you remember the name of the liquor I mentioned before, you will surely notice the great similarity in their names. In #Spanish, it is called “Selva Negra”, and in English I found two common names: “Black forest gâteau” or “Black forest cake”.

Esta torta es de origen alemán. Se señala que su origen está en la ciudad Baden-Baden (estado federado de Baden-Wurtemberg, Alemania), que está ubicada en las laderas de la Selva Negra. Allí se produce un vino de #cerezas amargas desde el medioevo (Schwarzwälder Kirsch), y desde inicios del siglo XX se produce una torta de #chocolate que toma el nombre del bosque cercano. Me llamó la atención lo del licor, porque resulta que es uno de los ingredientes originales en la receta inicial de la torta.

Me sorprendí de que la receta no tuviera registros más antiguos, sucede que la referencia que consulté señala que se tiene una de las primeras publicaciones de la receta en Berlín, en 1934. Yo esperaba que fuera más antigua, además de que me esperaba que se publicara primero en la región de Baden-Bade, pero supongo que su presentación en las pastelerías y ventas de #dulces de la capital alemana fue lo que disparó su popularidad. En la actualidad esta torta está en el puesto 13 en cuando al ranking de popularidad de tortas alemanas.

La torta se llama originalmente Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, y si recuerdas el nombre del licor que mencioné antes, de seguro notaras el gran parecido en sus nombres. En español se le llama simplemente “Selva Negra”, y en inglés le encontré dos nombres comunes: “Black forest gâteau” o “Black forest cake” (que ambos casos se traducen como “Torta bosque negro”).

So, to this day, even though I like it, when I eat a cake with a lot of cream, a part of me relives the negative experience a little.

Anyway, I wonder if you have eaten this cake before. Because its traditional recipe contains liquor, there may be cultural contraindications, but there are some variants that eliminate the liquor, it is not exactly the most traditional recipe, but it is good too.

Esta torta es muy atractiva, con sus capas de crema y bizcocho de chocolate, con sus cerezas por dentro y sus cerezas maceradas en la parte superior… aunque en lo personal, le tengo un viejo mal recuerdo, que hace que no la disfrute tanto como yo quisiera.

Vamos, a mí me encantan los dulces, y amo el chocolate. Pero, la primera vez que recuerdo haber comida una Selva Negra, parece que la pastelería en que la compramos no la había preparado bien, o hubo algún problema de algún tipo. Porque me sentó fatal y me mantuvo enfermo del estómago durante tres días. Eso es un muy mal recuerdo para un niño. Así que, hasta el día de hoy, a pesar de que me gusta, cuando como una torta con una gran cantidad de crema, una parte de mí revive un poco la experiencia negativa.

En fin, me pregunto si tú has comido de esta torta antes. Debido a que su receta tradicional contiene licor, puede haber contraindicaciones culturales, pero hay algunas variantes que eliminan el licor, no es exactamente la receta más tradicional, pero es buena también.

Como dije, tuve mala suerte cuando la comí por primera vez en mi vida, y en la actualidad si la como, pero siempre hay una parte de mí que rememora ese evento. Aun así, me gusta la torta.

I can't remember if I have ever tasted this Black Forest Cake! You mentioned that it's one of the most popular cakes worldwide. I am not a cake expert. Maybe it is there in my place of living. Maybe, I ate not knowing that it was a Black Forest Cake!
