Today has been a particularly hard day as I had to be teaching a training course in a laboratory in Salamanca whose main activity is to characterize uranium for use in nuclear reactors. A whole experience that has been fun but also exhausting.
Afterwards, I got in the car and drove for two and a half hours to the city of León, where tomorrow I have to do another training, but after hours sitting and taking advantage of the fact that it is Wednesday I took the opportunity to do my particular #wednesdaywalk through the center of León where the queen is its beautiful cathedral of marked Gothic style.
My entry to #PobPhotocontest organized by @friendlymoose
In general, I always love these temples of Gothic styles, being this cathedral one of the most beautiful in Spain, being a very striking feature the reduction of its walls using as a replacement large stained glass windows as the central rose window.
Walking through the cathedral square I realized that I had been years without visiting this city, which is a little more than an hour from my home in Oviedo to see that they had placed some letters with the name of the city in an ideal location for photographing with the cathedral in the background.
In the very square in front of the city, people who like architecture like me enjoy seeing institutional buildings in keeping with the beauty of the cathedral, such as the building of the provincial council of Leon.
Due to the cold weather and the fact that it was already dinner time, I continued walking through the city center where there are many bars and restaurants.
Until I got to a restaurant that I spoke very well colleagues that is the Restaurant Ezequiel which in turn is a store of pork and beef sausages.
As I had hardly stopped all day to eat I found myself with the situation that I was very hungry so I ordered some ham sausage very typical of this city.
And a scrambled egg with cheese and sea urchin roe. An explosion of flavors that was very tasty and that I definitely want to repeat in future visits to León.
But before the meal that I had commanded by courtesy of the restaurant they put me a tapa of "picadillo" ground pork mixed with paprika and spices that was spectacular which is one of their star products.
As you can see in the photos I needed a good red wine to accompany the dinner.
After dinner I returned to the hotel which is just behind the cathedral realizing that I have just in front of me the old medieval wall of the city.
Hoping to return with more time to this city and to be able to share with you its gastronomic, architectural and cultural richness.
Best regards.
