What I found in Durban is support small business who either buy directly from farmers or market, better quality most of the time at far lower prices. Our markets we once had weekly, have disappeared completely of late.
Oh, that is terrible that they have disappeared! There doesn't seem to be too many around here either, but these interesting other alternatives have popped up... community run hubs that make up enough weekly volume to order direct.
Farmers used to make up a bag of whatever was in season for a set price and deliver at one time here. Mixed assortment straight from the land always arrived, have not seen those in some time either.
