if life would ask me of what i enjoyed most on my stay on earth, food would probably rank in the upper echelon. i suppose most of you would agree with me on that. if funds and health were not a problem, i'm sure i would have spent most of my waking hours just munching on something.
i just recently came back from a short new year's vacation back home in the philippines. waking up around noon was a norm on weekends and this saturday was no exception. my friends and i decided to grab some sushi for lunch. not in an extravagant sushi place, we were clearly on a budget. sushi is not for everybody. most of my filipino friends would veer away from raw fish. but, i love sushi and the wasabi that comes with it. after 9 plates of maguro(tuna), salmon, kani miso(crab fat), ebi(shrimp) and hamachi(yellowtail), i threw in the white towel. but, i was ready for desserts.
with no sweets in sight, we headed to the next stop via train. eyes were immediately drawn to some cheesecake drink and muffins. we stayed there for quite a bit and shared some recollections of the trip i just had. this quick lunch took 2 hours at this point.
i thought we were headed home, but this has now turned into a full blown shopping experience: or rather window shopping. we went into 2 clothing shops, tried on some winter clothes but i decided not to give in to the urge of spending some cash.
we headed for home(finally), walking. dark clouds were definitely there when we started; those were ignored. it was gloomy and chilling. enjoying the walk amidst the looming downpour, talking of random topics with some gossip on the side, something hard fell.
pebbles? flowers? bird droppings?
snow!
wet snow!
then, slow rain!
we were wet, and cold, and far from home. far from any train station and not familiar with bus stops... we have no other choice but to continue walking. everything was unfamiliar to me, i just tailed my friends from behind.
then a familiar building came to view. we were close to home. and the rain stopped!
uneventful yet eventful.
stomach satieted, soul fed, hair drenched.
hope you had a great weekend!
take care! in cebuano, AMPING!
