I hated cooking for so long until I got to the university. Even with that I used to cook once in a pink moon. Anytime I cooked my friends would just be saying the “no wonders”. “No wonder the sun is hot, the wonder the wind is that, no wonder that and that”. In my head I would just be asking when has the sun ever become cold?. It was in my last year that I started becoming serious and cooking well in school. I was just scared of getting typhoid or ulcer because being sick that time would make you feel miserable.
I had already fallen sick in the first trimester and was trying to save myself from going through that same hell in the second trimester. Now that I remember everything, final year in the university was no joke. (Give me a moment to be proud of myself…..Alright, I’m back). I used to come to the hostel very late from the library so I created some emergency cusines, three of them actually but I’ll share my favorite. My favorite is the “emergency spag”. One thing with this emergency spag is that after eating, you just feel sleepy.
I realized that I would be so tired from the library but project stress wasn’t making me sleep so I needed an ingredient that would make me sleep, hence the secret savior; palm oil. I don’t know about you but palm oil makes me sleep like a baby so I added it to my emergency meal because I only make that meal when I’m tired and of course, after eating I would just go straight to bed.
You just need spaghetti, vegetables, protein (be it sausage, gizzard or eggs), and of course the secret ingredient palm oil. You boil the spaghetti for about 5 minutes. Whiles the spaghetti is on fire, be cutting your vegetables, sausages and whisking your eggs. So in all you’ve spent 5 minutes on all of this. Take the spaghetti from fire and sieve the water from it. In the next 3 minutes, pour your Palm oil in whatever you want to cook the spaghetti inside, add your vegetables and your protein. Stir fry it for 2 minutes or longer if you want but the hunger that would be lashing you at that point wont even permit you to do it for long.
After adding the vegetables, add a little salt and pepper. Now you just add your spaghetti and mix everything together. Viola, You are done within 8 minutes. I’m sure you might even make this in less than 8 minutes unless you are not so hungry. For the cost, you won’t really spend more than 3hbd on this. This cost was calculated according to the prices of things at where I currently live.
If things are expensive at your place, I won’t mind hosting you here so you could travel all the way from wherever you are to come and experience this my emergency cuisine. (Don’t worry about your transportation, you can use style to start a walk-athon)
