Some foods comes with lots of old memories, just like this bean pudding.
The amazing aroma, taste and flavor remind me of my childhood. My mum would always prepare different kinds of bean pudding for us. One of the best is the steamed bean pudding.
I decided to prepare it for my children but this time, with a little twist. I added sliced round cucumbers directly to the pudding before steaming it.
This gave the dish a refreshing texture and subtle crunch. I enjoyed it and my children does too.
Here's how i prepared it.
- 1 cup of bean flour
- 6 pieces of fresh pepper
- 1 medium sized onions
- half tablespoon salt
- 1 cucumber
- 3 tablespoon of peanut oil
- 1/2 cup of water
To prepare my bean pudding with cucumber, i started by slicing my cucumber in round shapes (my choice Shape).then i removed the peels and set aside.
Then i sliced my onions in bits. I also pound my pepper (roughly) and set aside.
In a clean bowl, i mixed the flour with my onions and pepper, i also added my oil and stirred.
Gradually, i added my water until it got to the texture that i wanted.
I laid some cucumbers at the bottom of the plate, added my beans flour mixture, laid another cucumber and added more cucumbers.
I heard some people bake their bean pudding but I've never tried that , i followed the normal procedure that my mum taught me; steaming the beans pudding.
I poured some water into the pot and placed my bean pudding plate into the pot and allowed it to steam. This lasted for about 30 minutes . It also came out great as expected.
My bean pudding was cooked to perfection, the right amount of pepper , onions etc. I love the little twist(the added cucumber) it's lovely and reminds me of home.
Do you love beans? Have you tried bean pudding before? Do you like my little twist?
Thanks for reading till the end.
Photos and collage and collage are mine.
