Today's holidays celebrate corn dogs and the freedom of information. Ray & Augie's are closed on Sunday's, so the celebration would be postponed. It was a quiet Ides of March yesterday, but it struck me I didn't call my dad on his birthday.
I could stop now, mired by guilt or push forward to make today a win. Along with a few minutes of activity on a rest day, I could count some small successes. I made it an object to cook more this month, as well as, blog.
Through today, I achieved small feats in both directions since we baked an apple-sausage breakfast bread and I wrote sparsely between extraction shooter lobbies.
I also set out to make good on my ambition to organize. A cluttered space is a cluttered mind, one which with enough procrastination, won't complete something simple like 500 words about freedom of information, for example.
The closet looked better in a matter of minutes. Granted, I had all day, but only kicked it into high gear before we go out to dinner with another couple. It's true, work takes the amount of time you have. The power of deadlines worked diligently at my focus and speed.
I folded clothes faster than I'd done while working at a clothing retailer. Meanwhile, Melani struck me a deal and made the mousse she so vocally said she would only help me make. I can't thank her enough for her support with many things- this was included. Though, I don't think she minds the effort considering she will enjoy the fruits of her labor, with the added pride of having made it herself.
I will be riding her coattails to sweet satisfaction on this one, as I clamor about with my own machinations: fashion, writing, video games, food and time for the right friends.
I think a great perspective shift took place when I started scanning magazines. Yes, the subscriptions were paid for at one point, but that cost having since been averaged over years spent idle, I'm impressed. I'm impressed to find new value in following old steps towards healthier minds and bodies, fatter pockets, and clean home offices and closets.
Whether or not my journey is of note matters not, I make note of what interests for my own votes of confidence.
