Introduction

On Tuesday, I played pickleball at Pickle Nation on a reclub session. I actually got close with this one club so I went to mamak with them after playing. We went to the nearest open mamak called Al Ali Nasi Kandar. Apparently, this is the only mamak in the area after looking at the google reviews. I will be giving my own review on it.

Al Ali Nasi Kandar

Al Ali Nasi Kandar is a typical Malaysian mamak. Mamaks are a popular place to eat and chat with friends. There's so many of them and they serve indian style food. Most of the food is not the healthiest but hey it's delicious. Al Ali though seems to get a lot of hate on google reviews. They have 3.4 stars and I usually wouldn't go to a place with less than 4 stars but this was the only restaurant open late at night so there wasn't much of a choice.

I didn't get the menu. I just ended up ordering from this new items display. I ordered the Roti Canai Volcano Kambing which is basically indian bread and lamb curry. Sadly, there wasn't a lot of the lamb left so they gave me the price of the Roti Canai Volcano.

You can see the picture above that there was a little bit of lamb there. The dish came with cheese onions and a sunny side up egg. It was an interesting combination but the different flavors tasted ok if you ate it all together.

As for the drink, I got a teh o ice. This is usually my go to drink unless I feel like getting a mango smoothie. Some other drinks I get at mamak are milo ice or soya bean.

Concluding Thoughts

Sadly, I don't have the receipt for this meal since there was someone in the group that paid but then everyone paid him for their portion. Honestly, the food was fine for me. I'm not sure why there's a lot of hate on the reviews. The service was okay as well. Food came out at a normal pace. It wasn't super slow or late as the reviews said. I don't think the food was amazing though so I think a 3.5 out of 5 stars is quite accurate for the place.
