Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share some pictures of the brunch that I had during a trip to Batang Kali. This was on the way there. My family and I were going to visit a new property there and it was going to be a long day as this place is almost two states away. So we thought it is best to have a good, hearty meal in the middle of the journey.
This is the restaurant we had our brunch. It is located in Ulu Yam. It was like the Hobbits as we already have our first meal at home. This was like the second breakfast as it wasn't even 12pm yet. The restaurant is actually home based and that's why it is small. However there are always people coming over and the food finishes by lunch and she closes the shop. This time my family and I set out early do we managed to reach here on time. During other times we missed the timing and it was always closed by the time we got there.
This is me before my meal. My mood was not best as my tummy was emptying.
The way to get to this place is full of mountains and greenery. Here's a shot of the majestic looking nature's beauty. There are also many waterfalls in Hulu Yam as it is a higher area. I have been there multiple times and enjoyed the falls.
I was awaiting my food while anticipating how scrumptious it will be. There were other customers too and there brought their children and even a cute puppy along. As they carried their furbaby, the puppy was trying to jump out of their arms while asking for their drink that they ordered as takeaway while leaving. I'm guessing that its a herbal drink. One of the kids gave some to the puppy as he won't calm down and his mother scolded him for giving it 😂 Perhaps the drink isn't good for puppies.
These are the drinks that my family and I ordered. Three of them are herbal drinks called liang teh. It is a simple beverage but goes well with the meal. The other drink which is the odd one of the group is barley drink which is a type of wheat.
I'm enjoying the iced drink. Liang teh can be consumed warm or with ice cubes. I rarely ever drink any iced beverages at home so whenever I go out, I prefer to order iced drinks. By the way, take a closer look at my T-shirt. It is related to a festival. Can you guess what it is? As you can see there is a clue given which is oranges.
This is what my father ordered. However, he didn't mean to 😂 What I mean is, he wanted to order something else, but accidentally ordered this due to a small miscommunication. He wanted wanton noodles with chicken. At the same moment, the rest of us were ordering curry noodles so my father accidentally nod when the owner asked whether he wanted curry too. So he ended up getting wanton curry noodles.
The rest of us ordered regular curry noodles. It comes with a flavourful curry with lots of spices. The noodles we chose are mee and bihun combination which is a mix of small glass noodles and large noodles. Sometimes we eat other variations too like just one type of noodles. The bowl of noodles comes vegetables, tauhu and chicken as well.
It was hot and I ate carefully so it doesn't get on my shirt. Whenever we plan to eat such curry or soup meals, I avoid white tops at all costs because sometimes the soup droplets my fly off and get on our clothes. If it's white top then it may leave a stain.
This is the chilli that the owner makes herself. I guess it is a long process of cooking not just chilli paste but other items such as blended garlic and onions in oil.
This is our table with all our meals and drinks. It may seem a little messy but we were eating comfortably.
A full tummy with a happy face as I also received a little gift from the sweet owner.
It was a few days after the lunar festival which is Chinese New Year. The kind owner gave me an angpau. Angpau is a gift money in red packets. They are usually given to children but in general they can be gifted to anyone including older people like parents. I kept the money for some time for good luck before spending it on another trip much later on.
I didn't know bitmoji changed their style until I tried it just now. I am not used to this new style and it feels less cartoony than before. Thank you for dropping by and I wish you have a wonderful day ahead!
