Today was the first time in well over a month that I've hosted my neighbors for a meal. AND this time, we had a "new to me" neighbor attend.
Holly lives about 2 miles away in the area where Lori used to live (which is how I knew of her on you know where
So I had bought (at full price, about $45 worth of steaks, just 3 steaks) I cut them in half to cook and share between the 4 folks.
I had this Cauliflower Parmesan Rissoto, as an experimental side dish
It was good, but was low on salt and I added more flaked parmesan, the ladies liked it.
I'd bought some "angelhair cabbage" (finely shredded) and made coleslaw
I had plenty of sauces if needed, none was used tho
Not pictured (dammit) I made 4 parfaits. in glasses, I put Plain yoghurt, with cinnamon and vanilla flavoring, then several spoonfuls of canned mixed fruit, raw unfiltered honey and a sprinkle of blackberries I had picked a couple of years ago, then just before serving I added frozen yoghurt.
As a side I had cracked open a jar of my homegrown and home pickled Poblano bread and butter pickles.
We ate, sat and talked a lot longer than usual (new person who had not heard the stories already ha ha ha)
I played the piano and sang a few songs.
All told, we were together for over 4 hrs before the group broke up.
I cleared away the dishes, put away the sparse leftovers, and now I can rest.
