Hi Everyone,
We have been exploring lots of suburbs recently, staying away the tourist sites and we came across 博多もつ鍋 やまや. We really missed the Motsunabe in Hakata (Japanese offal hotpot) so we decided to have lunch at 博多もつ鍋 やまや. There was a line but we knew it was good when there are people lining up. There was no English menu but the menu was very simple to understand you can order everything via a QR code.
There wasn’t a kids menu so we ordered an adult fried chicken karate set + an extra large rice serving for the kids to share while hubby and I ordered a hot pot each with two different soup base. Each pot comes with its own mini stove so it can start cooking while it’s served. The kid’s set was enough for them considering that huge bowl of rice given. For comparison, we took a photo of the rice bowl, that’s the large size of rice. Note, that there is no charge to get a large bowl of rice, you could even order more rice once you finish your bowl.
All meals also came with side dishes and a salad. What is even more amazing is we can have unlimited pickled veggies and cod roe which is my favourite. You can also ask for refills of this if you wish which we did for both as the kids and I loved it. It is extremely hard to get these yummy pickles and cod roes are rare in Sydney so we were really enjoying it.
As a meal in Japan, it is considered on the expensive side but comparing to back home, this meal is really worth what we ordered. The service was quick considering it was the weekend. The food was delicious with the extras on top, we don’t mind going there again for another meal.
