Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to chat about how I unexpectedly bonded with a coworker, and how it was a great thing for my week!

Bro Bonding

How a good conversation can really change a whole day or week!

I wonder if I'm one of those people that those around me think I talk too much.. honestly lol. I don't tend to go NUTS but I do spend a lot of time talking, I guess it's good that it's a significant part of my job! With talking to people, I've certainly learned and spent time getting to know quite a lot of people and that's been a really good thing. The other day, I was just chatting with a friend at work, a guy I've become better friends with lately, and it was a nice experience!

My friend, Dan let's call him, has a lot of things of interest that I do. Certainly not all, but a decent amount which is nice! I feel a little weird sometimes when I'm talking to people at work and they are saying they aren't feeling well, but I tell them "eat some garlic, it'll really help!!" and they go quiet for a second thinking "what the fuck?" haha. It's a funny thing to witness the first times you do it, because it catches people off guard. I go into some of the reasons why things like garlic are a phenomenal thing to be eating on the daily, but a lot of times it goes over their heads and I think they tune me out.

My friend Dan though, was complaining a little bit that he was feeling poorly and I said he should eat some garlic! He laughed for a moment and said he's been eating it like it's his job, and even takes it one step further compared to me and just swallows a whole clove! I can't do that, it makes me suuuper nauseous. I've tried it before, and it's rough lol. It was really great and funny though that I threw my usual spiel out there, and this dude was already on board with it! We ended up chatting for a good 20 or 30 minutes about these types of things and I got to know him better, which was great.

It's always a challenge being conscious of health, especially as a man and in the tech space. A lot of the people that I work with are just into going to their medical doctors, taking their prescription pills like good little drones and not questioning why they are still feeling like shit, or they feel worse in this one area but the original complaint is kind of okay. That type of stuff isn't good!

Finding a kindred spirit has been a bit of a challenge. Even when I worked many years ago at my original job, the people I worked with would make fun of me for washing my oranges before I ate them. It was a little odd, because these were pretty smart people but they didn't see the idea behind washing the skin off a fruit before breaking into it and eating it? Lol. That seems incredibly basic to me.. yet it was not something they ascribed to and I found that a little strange but challenging at the same time. I'm not saying that I don't have silly things myself, but I would like to think that I've got some pretty good ones compared to others..

Getting to chat with my friend about these important, and unrelated random things about everyday life was a really good way to spend some time on a work day!

What about you, do you have someone at work who you unexpectedly bonded with pretty well? Let me know in the comments!

I also sometimes love chatting with my friend at work, and learning new things from them. maybe I won't agree with everything that they say, but at least there will always be something that I can learn from. ;)

Yeah for sure! I think it's great to find a way to be social with the people we work with. Not in an inappropriate way but in good ways where we can learn things from them!

I love garlic. It is so good. My wife and I use garlic and onions in pretty much everything. I think it comes out of our pores to be honest. They actually make a concentrated garlic pill that you can take. I think health stores sell them.

It's interesting sometimes unexpected conversations just turned into something more meaningful. I used to have a colleague that I could work very well with, but she has left for a better job opportunity and am happy for her.
