Hello friends and hivians. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I sort of took it easy this weekend and decided to go fishing. Sunday, I spent most of my day on the water at three different bodies of water.
The above photo was my first fishing spot on a small fishing dock. It's got some great views of this small pond. I got there at about 8:30 and it was a little chilly. Frost actually covered almost all of that dock. The weather got warmer as the day went on and ended up peeling away clothing.
I came armed with some coffee, water and my shades. That coffee was so good as I was dealing with the colder temperatures at first. The shades 😎 weren't needed until much later when the sun decided to face me. After some time, I took off my jacket because I was beginning to get hot and that water was refreshing for that. It was very spring like today for here. Cold in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. I had a heavy winter coat on at first and wish I would have brought a lighter coat with me as well. It was very much like dealing with three seasons in one single day as the day progressed. I ended up wearing just a T-shirt by days end.
I have a hard time believing Spring is here to stay, but I can be hopeful. After all, there is still some leftover snow. Last week on Wenesday we had a small blizzard. Sunday got to a nice 62° F (17° C). Today it got to a staggering 83° F (28.3° C), but the upcoming weekend colder weather will be back again.
Nature's honkers were noisy here today. I've seen so many geese this winter season. They were standing, swimming and even flying. A few times, they were really close overhead to me. I paid close attention as I didn't want to get bombed 💩 🤣 I think they are just as confused as I have been this winter season. The poor things dont know to go north or south with the ever changing weather we had this winter season.
In the early morning to mid-morning, this place produces so many eye-catching reflections on the surface of the water. The water here is pretty clear, which I expect has something to do with it. It's relaxing to let the sun do its thing, showing these reflections. Now, after noon, the reflections disappear for a while until the sun starts to set in the evening. Usually, this place produces a lot of fish for me, but not today. I caught so many reflections, but now, for the fish, I caught none but more on that later.
I left around 2:00 to check out a lake about 30 miles away. This is where I decided to fish at first. I became a little aggregativated with the lack of fish activity, so I only spent about an hour at this lake.
I ended up checking out a third body of water about 7 miles away but spent even less time there. Once I got a lure stuck and lost it in the rocks, I called it quits. Also, at this time, I began to feel stiffness in my back. A lot of time beating the water today to leave empty-handed, it happens. I was going to meet up with some buddies to fish.
They went fishing across the river from me in Nebraska. I dont have a Nebraska fishing license and didn't want to spend nearly $90 for one. As a group of three individuals, they caught over 70 fish. Fishing can be like that sometimes, it's active at one place and not at another. It's ok, I'm sure it will pick up here in Iowa soon, and then Nebraska will go cold. But it was still a good day. I saw some nature, I was doing my thing and that is better than being at work any day!
That's all I have for you this time. Take care, stay safe and have a great week ahead. Until next time!
