A Sunday Date With Some Nature

Hello friends and hivians. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I sort of took it easy this weekend and decided to go fishing. Sunday, I spent most of my day on the water at three different bodies of water.

The above photo was my first fishing spot on a small fishing dock. It's got some great views of this small pond. I got there at about 8:30 and it was a little chilly. Frost actually covered almost all of that dock. The weather got warmer as the day went on and ended up peeling away clothing.

I came armed with some coffee, water and my shades. That coffee was so good as I was dealing with the colder temperatures at first. The shades 😎 weren't needed until much later when the sun decided to face me. After some time, I took off my jacket because I was beginning to get hot and that water was refreshing for that. It was very spring like today for here. Cold in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. I had a heavy winter coat on at first and wish I would have brought a lighter coat with me as well. It was very much like dealing with three seasons in one single day as the day progressed. I ended up wearing just a T-shirt by days end.

I have a hard time believing Spring is here to stay, but I can be hopeful. After all, there is still some leftover snow. Last week on Wenesday we had a small blizzard. Sunday got to a nice 62° F (17° C). Today it got to a staggering 83° F (28.3° C), but the upcoming weekend colder weather will be back again.

Nature's honkers were noisy here today. I've seen so many geese this winter season. They were standing, swimming and even flying. A few times, they were really close overhead to me. I paid close attention as I didn't want to get bombed 💩 🤣 I think they are just as confused as I have been this winter season. The poor things dont know to go north or south with the ever changing weather we had this winter season.

In the early morning to mid-morning, this place produces so many eye-catching reflections on the surface of the water. The water here is pretty clear, which I expect has something to do with it. It's relaxing to let the sun do its thing, showing these reflections. Now, after noon, the reflections disappear for a while until the sun starts to set in the evening. Usually, this place produces a lot of fish for me, but not today. I caught so many reflections, but now, for the fish, I caught none but more on that later.

I left around 2:00 to check out a lake about 30 miles away. This is where I decided to fish at first. I became a little aggregativated with the lack of fish activity, so I only spent about an hour at this lake.

I ended up checking out a third body of water about 7 miles away but spent even less time there. Once I got a lure stuck and lost it in the rocks, I called it quits. Also, at this time, I began to feel stiffness in my back. A lot of time beating the water today to leave empty-handed, it happens. I was going to meet up with some buddies to fish.

They went fishing across the river from me in Nebraska. I dont have a Nebraska fishing license and didn't want to spend nearly $90 for one. As a group of three individuals, they caught over 70 fish. Fishing can be like that sometimes, it's active at one place and not at another. It's ok, I'm sure it will pick up here in Iowa soon, and then Nebraska will go cold. But it was still a good day. I saw some nature, I was doing my thing and that is better than being at work any day!

That's all I have for you this time. Take care, stay safe and have a great week ahead. Until next time!

You got some very nice photos of the atmosphere around the lake and several good reflections of trees. I thought they were growing upside down!

Quite strange that all the fish had migrated somewhere else for the day! At least the weather got warmer and the sun was out. It’s so nice to be surrounded by these noisy geese and nature.

Hope you’ll get very lucky next time!

Thank you, friend :) Despite not catching anything I very much liked the views and feels there. Now a cold front has come in but by the start of next week it will be warmer again

Some days the fish just plain aren't biting... But you got some great photos, and incredible reflections off the water. It looks like things are finally warming up!

What brand of shades are you using these days? They look a lot like my Wiley X's! lol

I thought the fishing woukd be better but it was ok it wasn't. If it was good all the time they would call it,"Catching" haha. Weather so back and forth lately. We have a cold front coming in now but early next week warmer weather again. Oh those shades pictured are Oakleys. I have had them for quite some time thinking of retiring them for new pair

I like Oakleys too, all the best brands are just so expensive anymore though!

Hopefully the fishing comes out fine next time around!

Lovely photography. Its evident from the pictures you enjoyed your date with nature

Thanks I appreciate it. Yes I much enjoyed the ambience of nature.

👍

BIG BRO @coolmidwestguy !!! Looks like you had a wild time! (Pun intended, obviously. Those trees are amazing!) Did you manage to avoid getting eaten by any rogue squirrels? Seriously though, beautiful pics as ever!!!

Hey there Country Girl, long time..No rogue squirrels made there way to me, haha. There were some good conditions for water reflections that made the experience rather well despite not catching fish. Take care and good to see you.

A delightful way to spend the day!

Hehehe, that's I said you need the fish ring😛. I remember last winter when you build a snow man. You didn't get the chance this time😁😌.

Oh yes not too much snow this year here for snowman. Really only had one opportunity to make one. Now that I think of it I didn't even see one here this year. A really freak and strange winter. Oh and I didn't do any ice fishing. Maybe seeing that ring is a curse on me, haha. I know I didn't have my fishing hat on even though I brought it, it stayed in the car because I forgot 🙃

!LOLZ

Then let Ben in instead of the fish ring. I pass him to you😛😌😌

Haha but I think he's already dug too deep on you 🤪 He will be sad that you kicked him to curb 😆

🤣🤣😛

Wow, I loved the fishing spot you chose.

Yes it made for some good photo shots. Too bad the fishing wasn't good but overall a good time to be out!

Yes I was surprised not to see any of the fishes you might have caught.

A little early which is better than being at little late, haha
