I didn't sleep well for the first night home, I just couldn't get and stay comfortable so was up begrudgingly at my normal 5am. Once I decided to get out and get working it was after 8am and I found myself in amongst the strawberries on the hunt for more live plants buried amongst the grasses. I managed to find another fistful and got them into a pot in the greenhouse. I really need to split them all into separate pots but that's not the highest priority right now.
The animals and birds needed fresh water and the turkeys were very happy to not be reaching for the water down in the buckets.
The NA Darts masters was on and I was happy to watch Matt Campbell win over Stowe Buntz. I always root for Matt since his name is the same as my best friend in K-4th grade.
Weeding took a bunch of time and I got through the garlic rows getting the majority of the weeds pulled. There is still smaller stuff growing but for now the vining weeds are removed. The garlic is all doing absolutely amazing and I really look forward to the harvest. I got the greenhouse weeded then a few rows in the main garden, but there is oodles more to do.
@stryeyz took the trailer tires to town to get new ones put on while she went to work for a bit to catch up on a few things. While she was gone I got the ports changed out on the Blackstone to the NG ports and hten got a line hooked up from inside my glass studio for temporary as I need a couple correct size fitting and hose clamps.
I was so damned close to a 152 but just missed the double 19 and got a 133. My triple 19s are getting a lot better now. Not bad for not throwing for 10 days.
And this was Matt's win over Stowe.
The new tires on the trailer with new valve stems on each and I had it hooked up and ready for the grain run I have done this morning already.
@stryeyz seasoned the grill really well so we could use it with dinner.
The deck was covered in tree semen, loads of it, all yellow and coating the entire area under the pergola. I had to do a good power wash, picture the deck as Ace Ventura in the rape shower scene... Our poor deck couldn't move and was just covered in it. EWWWWW!
Our Columbine are flowering in the yard and I am stoked that they are spreading. I make sure to let the flowers go to seed and slowly they are spreading around the base of the chokecherry.
I got the fire going in the pit to prep for grilling and had to add a couple times to keep enough coals.
The US darts masters came on in the afternoon and I put music on while it was on the tv so I could see the scores as I was in and out of the house.
First use of the grill was sliced veggies, onions peppers carrots and radishes.
This is the key to the whole setup is that I am at the fire pit grilling the burgers and @stryeyz can be right there on the grill making a side dish so she isn't stuck in the house and can be a part of things better.
I grilled burgers while she grilled the veggies.
We bit much on the bun toasting but they still came out okay.
Got out to soak a bit later as it was beginning to rain.
I looked art the doppler to see this coming for us. At first it was a drizzle.
Then it came down pretty hard. It was pounding on the roof but it didn't feel that hard on my head in the tub.
I got out as my skin was being bitchy and when I got in the house this was the doppler. Shortly after @stryeyz came in as the rain was pounding quite hard. We got .14" from it and I saw the demarcation line to the south this morning as I drove.
So I have been to town for 5.5 barrels of grain which I emptied into the trailer then shoveled it all out into the sheep pen. Today I will be letting the farm dry a bit so I can work on cutting grass before the deluge of rain hits the next 2 days. I have a number of tasks on my list that can be done in the rain under cover so I need to get to those that are not under cover.
