First breakfast at Sotogrande Hotel

For this year’s travel to the Philippines, I went to Baguio City which is one of the coldest places in the country. I stayed in Sotogrande Hotel which is a newly opened hotel in the city. They opened in October of 2023.

The building is new and the interior looks modern because of the use of glass, mirror, wood, and stainless steel materials. I like the combination of these materials and the chosen paint colors.


For my first day, here's the breakfast I plate for my first course.

Before the breakfast meal, I checked in to see the design of my room. The design has a typical modern or contemporary look with the addition of the local identity of the city. There is a nice tapestry that was laid on the headboard.

The layout of the room is simple yet very calming. I think the colors and wood panels have something to do with the room's overall appeal. The TV is nicely positioned with the bed, which I have to commend. I've seen hotel rooms where the TV is awkwardly positioned with the bed making it difficult to watch on it.

Moving down to the lobby area. It has a modern or contemporary design. The space feels huge because of the double volume space at the reception area and the waiting area.

The S-shaped pattern on the ceiling panel looks nice. It's simple yet it's an effective way to impress the visitors of the hotel.

Here comes the fun part of my stay, it's the food! It's breakfast time. It was served as a buffet style and there's plenty of variety to choose from.

There's a rice and dishes section.

There's a bread section that didn't interest me. There's also a pancake and fruits section but it didn't interest me too.

There's also a salad section for the health-conscious guests.

All I ate during my first breakfast was the garlic rice together with the dishes that were prepared during the morning.

Brewed coffee was my choice of drink during this breakfast. I didn't put any creamer or sweetener to lessen the calories during this meal.

For my second course, I simply tried the other dishes that I haven't picked during the first course.

I had a great time during my meal so I felt energized to go for my planned activities during this day.

Is it normal to have fried fish for breakfast?
I would probably be stuck in the pancake section :)

This is the hotel I've stayed in that served dried fish. It's odd but it's a fun dining experience.

The scrambled egg is nice :)

I want to have some from the salad section 😜

😅 You'll like the salad section because you can mix the ingredients and dressing of your choice :)
