I love Saturdays 😍. It’s the only that I won’t feel guilty even if I eat a little bit more. I guess it’s my personal “cheat day” when it comes to food.
It’s been a while since I last dined at the Springleaf area so I decided to visit the food places last Saturday. It’s a quiet neighborhood yet there are food gems that offer nice food that are also affordable.
My first stop was Ngee Fou (Hakka) Ampang to order their very own Hakka-style Yong Tau Fou dish. I’ve tried other shops that make Yong Tau Fou but I find this specific dish from Ngee Fou as my preference. The balance of the flavors and taste is just right for me.
There’s a variety on the items that were assembled in this plate but the one that unifies the whole dish is the sauce. It’s a combination of sweet, tabgy, savory, and a hint of Umami that are perfectly balanced.
I didn’t know how to pick the mixture of the toppings so I told the owner to put everything on my plate 😅.
The amount of water spinach that is in this dish is a good source of dietary fiber to help clean up my system.
So, after a healthy meal, it's time for the desserts and snacks! I went to Hans-Union which is a restaurant that is a few minutes walk from where I ate my lunch. They offer a variety of modernized cuisine that ranges from Western food, Chinese food, and some of the local Singaporean food as well. They also have plenty of pastries and traditional Chinese puff snacks that I like.
I bought an Eclair which is okay. But the one that I came to buy is the Chinese-style Yam and Lotus puff pastry. The one with the lotus filling is my favorite among the pastries.
The Chinese New Year is just around the corner so they already brought out their gift packs and the mini pastries in a container. They look nice!
