in Plant Power (Vegan)10 days ago (edited)

@iamchimary the local food lover is here again with another significant one. Come with me let's cook this local soup together. I have my mushrooms, two different types; one of the mushroom types is one that is harvested once in two years and you go hunting it in the bush while the other can be farmed inside your and harvested within the compound only if there are trees that are dead for some years and my elephant grass(achara ofe) has been ready for days, mom did just to it, getting it ready and wanting me to prepare it with just pepper and salt but i told her to be patient I want make okro with it. I had to got out to purchase the okro and to avoid wasting the other two.

MAKING MY MUSHROOMS AND ELEPHANT GRASS IN OKRO

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 pieces of small scotch bonnet pepper
  • 400g of elephant grass (achara ofe)
  • 50g of mushroom
  • 10g of onion
  • 200g of okro
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 20ml of red oil
  • 5 pieces of uziza leaf (optional)

Step 1
Put my pot of water on fire and add my red oil to it allow it keep boiling.

Step 2

Pound my pepper, the onion, cut and pound the okro, the reason for pounding is to get thicken the more. It's optional though, because not everyone loves to pound it

Step 3
The mushroom one is relatively strong and takes minutes to soften while the other can soften with seconds.

Allowed the strong mushroom to soften before adding the soft one and added the onion and fresh pepper same time.

Was at this stage that i added my elephant grass(achara)

Step 4
Adding okro and the few leaves of uziza was the stage, the uziza gave it a unique taste from the usual okro taste but still optional.

This can be taken with garri, akpu or semo. It can still be taken just like that and need nothing more. It can be for breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on one's choice. Let's plate this soup as it's ready for consumption. Because it's for dinner i just took mine and left same quantity in the pot for any other family member who might be interested.

What's your thought about this recipe? Bring it the comment section let's hear it, reblog and upvote please don't forget. I think i would want to try out something outside my local dishes soon.
