How I passed my Saturday and Sunday

in Life Storieslast year

Hi Hive family, hope this post reaches you strong and healthy. Past weekend had been busy Saturday and Sunday, so I did not get to pen down anything. Let's do it now. My Aunt fell down at hospital due to sudden leg 'softening', I was not sure what was it, she was not sure too, just suddenly the right leg could not support the body and she fell. So I made it a point to visit her with some gifts.

Walking Stick and Support Sandal!

I reached her place rather early after my tutoring job in the morning and straight away passed to her the walking stick. I bought those more modern-looking, knowing she did not prefer those bulky type, nor did she prefer those one-stick type which can't stand on its own.

This is foldable type, and has a tiny gentle base and a light a the handle.

Good news was, she felt strong on both of her feet now and did not need the walking stick already and asked me to keep it. If anytime she needs it in the future, she would use it. Thank God to see her strong now and can walk around happily.

I passed her a support sandal also, Sketchers brand which is recognised by podiatrist, but the size is too big. Her feet is so small, around 22.5cm. So, she asked me to return the shoes. Although, no doubt, she said it was so so comfortable with the 'archfit' design. She bought hers from night market and had been using it for decades. I insisted that one day, I must bring her to physical shoe shop to try to buy a new sandal. Luckily, she agreed!

Lunch at her place

She cooked two delicious dishes — one is pork, one is chicken.

For chicken, it was chicken with baby corn, brocoli and roasted walnut. It was so appetising, with soy sauce and oyster sauce as the base. Somehow, the nuttiness of the walnut added on to the deliciousness.

For pork, she braised it with beautifully cut potatoes. Also, this was soy sauce-based. This dish was loved so much by the boys.

Oranges were displayed on her table already because Chinese New Year is around the corner. She asked me to taste two types of oranges to know which was sweeter as her tastebuds no longer good. While I was at it, she packed the food for us.

S U N D A Y

We had awesome Sunday, the presence of God was unusually strong that day. Always love to worship together with church members. After that, we had meal together and also had simple birthday celebrate with a father-daughter team. They came back Malaysia for a visit.

After lunch, my mother-in-law and I went for light bites and coffee with another church member, whom we had mentioned several times for a date but never happened due to life's busyness. She is a mother of 3, stay at home Mum and it was quite difficult for us to sync our time because I also have my part-time tutoring job whilst a stay-at-home-mum. And my mother-in-law also needs to take care of home and grandchildren. Somehow, our time can be synced, so let's make it happen before the opportunity is gone.

Here we were, at a cafe called Ferno for some light bites. I bought for them some buns and yummy loaf bread, also bought a walnut cinnamon roll to be shared. We also had a cup of cappuccino and latte to spend hours there. And time passed so fast, we chatted for 3 hours! So good to be able to catch up finally!!!

Life indeed is like a big project-cum-investment!

It does not come with a manual and each one has its own set of challenges, yet we all also have our own set of strength and weakness. I would say, some rules of life is to never compare with others, or if you want to compare, you may compare maturely for progress purpose, not for envy or insecurity. Never start the day by thinking about the bad things happened yesterday. 'Overnight food is stale, guys, just throw it ba.' If any shortcoming comes your way, gives it time, it will heal eventually. My husband always reminded me to stay calm — that it is okay to not have everything figured out, and to know that gradually and surely, we will get there. Lastly, my take, always enjoy while we have it, because life is short and unpredictable.

Lastly, husband came home with these egg tarts and we had it for our night snack.

Wow! Really love the stories. Sound good to hear and the foodies that is involved in all, feel like eating them all

So loving and generous of you to go see about your aunt and bring her helpful things. I’m glad to hear she feels stronger now. When you spoke about her leg softening it reminded me of my restless leg syndrome that I’ve had for some years now. Our bodies do some uncontrollable things sometimes. I’ve never heard of what your Aunt went through.

All of the food and treats look so yummy. It’s so important to spend as much time
with our loved ones as we can and enjoy every moment. We do not know what tomorrow will bring.

It was nice visiting you ~ 😊

Thanks for sharing this entry!

Family is the most important thing but if it is accompanied by friends and good food, it is better, greetings!
